Shorter journey for us but would of liked to of seen a new side in the league.

Sws are very very lucky

Can't they play at another venue - let's say Merthyr or Newtown somewhere not too far for them???

Good news for Caersws if reports are true, but bad news for welsh league clubs next season in div 1 looking for a top 2 place.

Had a feeling they would. This was their best chance too. Season after next it'll be a whole new ball game, what with the split etc.

RT - Aberaman is nowhere near Newtown!!

He's got the cash there, has Mr Morgan, and the HT food is delicious: pizza slices, sarnies, buffet food etc. But in terms of bums on seats....they're worse than us!

Shame the FAW don't offer the place to Hollyhead since they qualify...

Surviving 2 relegations is totally ridiculous isn't it. Have the FAW given Aberaman much help and guidance? I doubt it. As mentioned couldnt they play somewhere near until the lights are ready?

As far as I know Aberaman have been given very little help or advice from anyone. They have also been given conflicting dates as to when the ground had to be ready for the inspection. Their season is still going on so how can they put their floodlights up? There would be no need for them to play elsewhere as their ground will be ready by 31st May- at the latest. Lets hope common sense prevails....!!

Am I right in thinking that Prestatyn were given extra time to get their ground improvements finalised. If this was the case surely a precedent was set last year. Welshpool were given time to get there ground up to standard when they came into the league and we're all still waiting.

Your right there, both teams were given leeway!!! That's totally unfair - I like ENTO and hope that common sense does prevail and help/ guidance is given to them too!!!

I hope to be going up their ground next Tuesday. Shall have a good look around before it gets dark!

i was looking forward to visiting a new ground next year,hope they give ento time to get their groud ready.

It's a pity about the pyramid system and this could addressed by making two places (or even three) available wherever they are from in Wales - there are at least 6 clubs in the North who meet the criteria and want to get into the WPL. What about a playoffs system like the english leagues, makes the end of the season more exciting too. We need new blood in the top tier if we wnat to bring the fans in.

It was not only last season that teams were given more time, than the official deadline, Airbus got extra time to get their retractable floodlights installed, if you all can remember their was uproar at the time from certain clubs that Airbus had extra time, so this precedent go back years, and should be extended again to ENTO they have put a lot of money into the club both on and off the field.

I hope Aber are given the extra time too. I prefer to see a 2-up-2-down.

But i can't help thinking they'll be the next 'us'. I.e. struggle to get fans through the gate. And if/when the money man walks, the club will struggle. Hope i'm wrong though.

Steve when you look at it the most high profile clubs in the WPL all have a Mr moneybags behind them, Mike Harris at TNS, Peter Parry at Rhyl, Niskin Piskin (or whatever his name is no offence meant just cant remember his name) at Llanelli, all would suffer badly if their money men walked, look where Llanelli were before the takeover, relegated.

ENTO are no different to those, ok clubs like Airbus don't have huge budgets but they do have stability, Airbus give a certain amount each season and the club has to manage with that, they won't ever challenge the top 3 but they know exactly how much they will get each year, and work within that budget.

Rhyl have a big advantage over everybody as the money they get through the gates is a big plus.

they could play at aberdare athletics staduim only 4 miles from aberaman, if they need more time to improve thier own ground.

please no more athletic stadiums,teams who played on them have failed to survive,barry town inter cardiff[2 stadiums],cwmbran,+the team from cardiff which survived 1 season[where martin rose started].now connah's quay are struggling on theirs.as for atmosphere because of small crowds,that would be nil.

abu25a- we applied to play at the Athletics Stadium last season but the local council wont allow one club to use it! So basically the stadium is used for athletics a few times a year and the odd football cup final at the end of the season.

You should be given more time simple as.

If ENTO get turned down it could be worrying news for the WPL south wales clubs who end up in the super10 second division. It looks like there could be only one from the south in the second division who will then incurr alot of travelling expenses going north every other week (18 times a season just for league games) and a lack of local games. Money will be limited in this tier so any extra expense could cripple a club.

Not sure what the ground criteria will be for the second division but surely it will be equivilant to the current WPL ground criteria. Which will mean a lack of South Wales teams entering the second division, putting off teams who do have the ground for promotion.

Alot of the south wales feeder teams arent interested in going into the WPL as it is. But if it means being promoted into a second tier with only one south wales team then I cant see any of them being intrested or being able to find the money. If the super10 has to happen then a North & South regional feeder league is a better solution with maybe a North South playoff for the two who finish top and want promotion.

This will eventually happen naturally because clubs will wake up and see what a pointless tier it is.

I think this is ridiculous, absolutely appalling!!! They deserve this promotion, I've been watching their progress from a distance with a keen eye and I really do feel for them and then there's Sws who have could survive for the second time in two seasons be the skin of their teeth...

Can we get a petition going?!?!?! I really do think they should be given some time to sort it out...

I must say, I was suprised to hear this news. I'd have thought Deakin would sell his granny to help a south Wales club up!

Personally I reckon it's a disgrace that the FAW treat Aberaman in such an unreasonable way, when the majority of Welsh league clubs don't have the ambition to apply for promotion.

Just a point of order Mr Porto. Its not the FAW who are to blame it is the WPL board who turned them down. Aberaman are now going to appeal to the FAW who will no doubt allow them more time as they have done with other teams in the past.

The WPL deadline is the problem, it should be a bit longer after the season has finished (say mid-June) to give clubs the time to complete the works. As Aberaman have said the remaining work can only be done when the season has finished.

I sympathise with them to soem extent and agree they could be given more time, but surely the answer would have been to prepare their facilities before the season started if they were intending to apply for promotion, like Bala and a lot of other clubs in the North did. The clubs know the criteria and deadlines before the season starts so that is the time to get the work done. Better still why aren't the criteria for the WPL applied to the feeder leagues, then any club could be promoted and it should be mandatory for the league winners or it makes a mockery of the pyramid.I don't think it's an excuse to say they only want to bring the ground up to scratch if they win promotion and if a team does not want promotion they should not be in the league in the first place. We are supposed to have a proper pyramid structure like other countries, but operate in a very amateur way at times.

llanman- I can understand what youre saying but last summer the Club built a brand new clubhouse with changing facilities and VIP area, a 300 seater stand and hardstanding around the ground. Apart from a £23,000 grant from the WGI the rest was funded by the club. We obviously then didnt have time (or money for that matter) to complete the remaining work which is what we are currently in the process of doing. We understand that there are several clubs in the league that dont meet the criteria at the moment?

Redturk, its the floodlights and infill around the ground.

It was not meant as criticism of your efforts to date, but we all know what the league is like, they set criteria and rarely move from it and we know what is wanted so can't expect much if we fall short. I think Prestatyn had to get their lights up in a week last year after protracted planning problems.Bala would not have been promoted last season on their ground criteria and there were still doubts very recently. Unfortunatley you will have to get your lights up this close season and do it all again on the pitch, which looking at your league you are more than capable of doing.

As for the existing clubs with poor grounds and ours is not that good!, the league is over tolerant of this but I can't see them enforcing criteria, maybe they will use the Super 10 split to address this in some way.

Good luck to Aberaman, it's clear the club have been working hard, and are continuing to work hard, upgrading their ground to meet league criteria.

A friend of mine who plays for Goytre says that Aberaman have been granted an extension to get their house into order. He was gutted that Goyts could only draw last night!! Sets it up nicely for Saturday though!

Reading the changes to the league structure in 2010, there seems little point in you going up as you will probably be back in the Welsh League the following season - unless you can get in the 'super ten'

Not aware of any extension but itll be great if its true!! 4 of the 8 floodlight stanchions are now in place at the ground!!
