Top analysis mate.

I find the Bielik salary more shocking than Jenkinson or Mkhitaryan by the way. It's astounding if he's genuinely on £25k-a-week - the same as Calum Chambers, who somehow actually looks underpaid going by this god-awful metric.

From what I can tell Wenger and Gazidis, conscious of the fact that young players put money before their careers, gave some of them stupidly-big salaries to safeguard Arsenal from losing them to a Man City, Bayern or a Paris Saint-Germain very early on.

And it sort of makes sense because financially the investment would pay off in a major way if they were picked up for big money down the line, but it only makes sense if they're good! If they're sh*t, which they are, then it makes zero sense.

Wenger obviously honeydicked Gazidis into believing that Jenkinson was the next Cafu and therefore a £2 million-a-year contract was key to staving off interest from Real Madrid.
