We'll get a fee as he is under contract.
Means we can secure a deal early with Mark Ellis.

Where is he reported as saying that?

On the chairman’s statement last week, until they know our budget and what the wage cap will mean

The chairman hasn't released a statement on the subject. The club put out a statement last week about the squad and said it is monitoring developments will be speaking to players out of contract in due course. That's very different to 'no contract negotiations for time being'. We'll still be talking to players and potential targets in the meantime, of course.

I think, listening to what he said in the Q & A the other week, that the club won't be signing any new players any time soon. With the uncertainty of when a new season will start, and uncertainty over when any income will start coming in it is a sensible decision. Yes they will be talking to players. I also think players wages will drop drastically on any new contracts as there isn't a lot of money floating around the lower divisions at the moment.

Yes I'd go along with that, makes sense.

Incidentally the EFL were meeting with L2 this morning to discuss the timing of the new season - Sept 12 or 19 were being rumoured, with fans possibly being admitted some time in September too. Haven't heard anything coming out of the meeting yet.

With the possibility of restricted capacity, the chairman was talking about possibly modifying the Cowshed Stand to allow segregation so more home fans can get into the stadium. I'm not exactly sure how that would be done.

I would hope we will be in a position to allow all season ticket holders in by the start of the season!
