Just read this interview in the echo from MM, [www.google.co.uk] to go with his comments Burton post match, pretty much confirms we’l be getting a few in!

So far only heard of the Woodward rumour, anyone else heard anything?

As expected, a quality CB with experience, and a combative box2box midfielder as a minimum and priority.

A dead ball specialist would be welcome also.

Hopefully we go for quality and not quantity, I’d rather more money/wages spent on the 2 positions mentioned above than have 4-5 average players - what we already have - we must improve the first 11!

With at least 2 quality signings and with Banks and Wilson on way back, I’d be happy with that!

Checked him out and he could be useful, but if it was a cash only poach at this time, I think it would be a bit too rich, as dunfermline are not small time in Scotland, they could command just enough of a fee to scupper a poaching attempt.

Maybe because he might get regular first team football and the Rangers link you speak of is just a rumour.

Some players might take actual offers of a bit more money and regular games, over hypothetical offers nobody has made for them at that time.

However it is a strong likelihood based on what you said he would go there, but nothing is set in stone.

We may have Ollie Banks, Harvey Gilmour and Evan Gumbs available pretty soon, all were involved in pre match fitness routines before the players came out.

I know they need match fitness but, it is a step in the right direction.

I actually think we've seriously missed Ollie Banks, Devon. He adds a decent injection of attacking verve that's missing from the midfield right now. He may be a little inconsistent but I much prefer him in there.

Best passer of the ball we have and is a goal threat. Can drive forward with it also, something we need him to do more.

Fingers crossed in the next couple of weeks, we’l have Banks & Woodyard rubbing the the show in CM.

Not sure where this leaves Potter once Banks is back.

Liked Cookie however, Ferrier is a far better all round player. His hold up play as alone striker far superior, he has pace and considering his lay off, looks sharp.

Cookie was a free transfer even Walsall paid a fee for Ferrier and didn't want to sell either but, £150k was to good to turn down and he had made it clear he wanted to leave after their relegation. Mansfield, as usual, trying to buy their way out and it looks like it won't work this time either.

We all know the rumours about what went on with Cookie and MM, IMO leaving was to get back at MM and has backfired, he would have been better staying.

Hiwula had a decent speell with Walsall a few years ago in league one, but at other clubs has not blazed a trail, but there is enough evidence to say a player like that if signed, might be able to offer a boost in goal tallies.

Whether it happens is one thing, but if it did I wouldn't be too dissapointed.

We need defenders and midfield more than more strikers - look what we got from Coventry with Ponticelli. Ferrier if he stays fit and Payne if not can do enough with Morris and RHM chipping in... provided we aren't conceding 2+ goals every week....

Yes, tend to agree with you. It's our defence and midfield that needs strengthening, and unless an incredible striker deal comes available, we can plough on this season with what we have got....hopefully.

I think the reality is we shouldn’t pin our hopes and budget on a striker when there are precious few around and everyone wants them.

Shoring up the defence, getting some control in midfield and hopefully Ferrier comes through seems like something achievable

Not sure Mayor would be any better than what we've got here already?

Bradford's Doyle has been recalled from his loan spell with Swindon, I wonder if Micky's made a cheeky bid for him? We can all hope lol

Seeing today that Borthwick Jackson has returned to Man Utd and Miller has also left the club. That's 2 off the payroll and true to his word, Micky is clearing the decks to accommodate fresh talent coming in.

I’d take Mayor over Ginnelly. Even though he’s not doing to well at Plymouth, every time I’ve watched him he has been class. Originally didn’t want to go down south, due to wife given birth, but the lure of Lowe and a bigger wage got him down there.

Although we were linked on the rumour mill with Vaughan in the summer it's way too presumptuous to say he turned us down. We don't know if we even made him a firm offer. But, even if we did, at his age I wouldn't blame him for taking a three year contract, especially with a club who would expect to be challenging for promotion back to L1 straight away.

We do know Ferrier turned us down in the past but he hasn't turned out too bad.

29 January, 2020 14:16
Suppose Lowe is just bigging the situation up in an effort to extort a bigger fee for a player he knows is probably leaving.

Its them saying they want to keep him, but know the player wants away, they can then say that they received an offer that was too good to turn down etc

We've put a £750k price tag on Manny, but we'd also like him to remain at Rovers. Should Pompey come back in before Friday with a bid of £750k, then he will be gone. That's football unfortunately.

The Mayor situation isn't secret, it's been put out there that he's unsettled down there, and as a manager, Lowe knows that under those kind of circumstances, he won't be getting the best out of Mayor and the logical outcome will be for Plymouth to cash in and replace him before Fridays deadline.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy will return to Aston Villa before the beginning of next week. Had a decent send off from some first teamers today. Could potentially open up some more space for another signing.

The feeling is that a centre half will be shifted out too with the arrival of Morgan Feeney being imminent. Won’t be Manny, likely to be Ray or Nelson. Rovers still in the market for a midfielder and potentially another striker or winger.
