hi lads - just wondering if anyone can confirm that next Tuesday night - December 3rd we are playing at home at prenton park v Manchester united u21 in the last 16 of the leasing.com trophy. I believe the original draw was to play them away but it got switched due to the fact that man utd want to give their young players the experience of playing at league grounds. since the draw was made - I have checked a few fixture lists and it still says we are playing them away from home.

Definately at Prenton Park

I've seen it in the fixture lists but haven't seen an announcement from the club confirming the date.

Purely a guess but, if we go out of the cup tonight, I wonder if they might play it on Saturday 30th.

Definately listed for that date too Baldy as the efl website has ties commencing that week. Any news on the rearranged Doncaster match guys? I thought sat 30th if we both got knocked out cup but Donny won last night

thanks lads for the info on the man u game. that means the man u match is our next home match as we play Fleetwood away on Saturday. as for the Doncaster home match - as far as I know that has not yet been re arranged. just out of interest - talking about Doncaster rovers they now have to find space for 2 games in the north west as they still have to re arrange their away game v Bolton. just going back to the man u game next week it will be very interesting to see how many mancs turn up.

Hi Baldy One

176 turned up at City on Oct 1st they have a good team of youngsters, they beat us 1-0 but they also hit the woodwork 3 times, we could have won but we didn't take our chances.
The y also beat Rotherham 2-0
They beat Doncaster 2-1
They beat City 1-0 (as I previously said above)

It will be interesting to see how Rovers perform against them
Good Luck

450 of them went to Rotherham. Quite surprised

yes - last season when we played man city u21 at home the attendance was 750 with 140 from city. but I think the man u attendance will be slightly higher. I will go for 2000 with 500 from man u.

O/T of this item is the game Tranmere Reserve's v Man Utd Reserves I remember in the 1990's at Prenton Park when our reserves played in the same league as Man Utd Reserves it was a night match and I think over 5000 turned up to watch it.

Mind you we we're on our journey to the moon at the time with the first team

Nice one, I'd forgotten we used to play them at reserve level in the 90s.

I do remember our youth team going far in the FA Youth Cup in the early 90s and losing to United at Old Trafford. Giggs was being touted as the next big thing and he played against us, as well as a few others from the class of 92. Some familiar names here....mainly in the United team! Now confirmed for Wednesday 4th December- same night as the merseyside derby. Clever planning so now they may get some manc fans coming down on the basis of going our game and having a scrap in Liverpool on the way

Think Morgan's back with us, helping Parky with the youth team.
I liked Gary Jones as well, thought he did well for us even though he often got stick for his lack of pace. Nothing he could do about that!

Who is going to Prenton tonight? Or who is staying at home to watch Liverpool v Everton or Mourinho returning to Old Trafford with his Spurs team?... I wonder what tonights attendance will be at Prenton? The Man Utd U21 team won all three of their group games,, what kind of team will Micky put out tonight?..Don't want any injuries especially with the important Accrington game on Saturday and the Xmas, New Year and Watford games coming up..We were scheduled to play Shrewsbury away on the weekend of the FA Cup 3rd round, so that will now have to be rescheduled...We simply cannot afford to be dropping home points vs Accrington this Saturday...

Don’t feel comfortable or confident at home ,more hopeful it’s approaching the new year ,we really need to pick up some points ,if MK Dons get going we could be in the mire ,we are definitely were we deserve to be ,let’s hope for some January signings who can make a difference

We've currently got a cushion from the danger zone so I'm not sure what your issue is really, particularly considering we've been seriously unlucky with injuries and clearly have one of the more meagre transfer/wage budgets in the league. Regarding difference-makers, we have plenty of those in the team already; the goals have been spread out quite evenly. I know it's hard for you to show any kind of respect to the manager and who he brings in, though...

Sorry floodlit a few points is not a cushion ,.only takes MK Dons to go on a run .we could be in the drop zone come Saturday ,it’s not I don’t respect MM I just think we got promoted to soon and he is out of his comfort zone ,,his signings nothing to write home about apart from the 2 Villa lads and Ferrier .first half against Chichester was embarrassing ,it was only the fact they run out of steam we took control .if they had kept at the same pace all game ,anyone’s game ,why did the Trophy game have 21 mins of extra time ,oh ,Man U losing ,fetched in Fergie time

It's enough of a cushion and we're doing adequately so far. And if you can't get promoted when one of your forwards has banged in 30-odd goals then when exactly can you expect to?? Unfair comments on his signings again, only the Villa lads and Ferrier are noteworthy? I don't even know where to start with that. Manny, Sid, Caprice, Banks, Morris, Payne, Perkins, Danns, Potter to name a few... all solid enough additions. You rip into the manager whenever we lose and have done for a few years now. You clearly don't like the man, it's blindingly obvious.

Got to say what did baldy do wrong other than make a prediction? We picked arguably a weaker team than we would usually pick against a side that was unbeaten in the competition?!we won. If i didnt make wrong predictions id be clearing ladbrokes out every weekend

Right to pick a weakened team, even if it had backfired and we'd lost, Saturday is infinitely more important.

Well I thought that was a very entertaining game of football. There was also quite a lot of niggle towards the end which showed that the Man U players were up for it! In the circumstances I thought we played very well.
Pilling great distribution (better than Davies in that respect) had no chance with either goal and made a couple of decent saves did ok overall. Woods was excellent as was Wilson - real shame he is banned for Saturday's big game...
Maddox was excellent as was Walker-Rice. WR dead balls were excellent and we would likely create far more chances if he was on the pitch. Wonder what MM thought of them both?
Spellman was only ok and is on this showing not likely to be threatening for a 1st team spot any time soon. Payne had no chances but was lively as a foil to the attack.
Overall a very encouraging performance marred only by the injury to RHM....

We do need something different cant harm for him to be on the bench, my only concerns with the younger players in the group is strength particularly RHM and CBT, both can be outmuscled easily at times.

I'm assuming you didn't see his rant a few weeks ago where he was telling people they were wrong and he knows more than everyone else because he's a world football expert? If you're going to post things like that and then you're proved to be just the same as everyone else then you deserve everything you get imo. Pride comes before a fall and all that.

Decent assessment that, hard to disagree with any of it. Spellman yes maybe still a work in progress, but looked comfortable and maybe not too far off making meaningful first team appearances if not this season.
