In the days when there was a quick turn around home and away fixture against the same side it always surprised me how often the first result was overturned in the return. So There is still hope. Wycombe were the better side yesterday but without our all too persistent failures from set pieces e could have got something from the game.
If that could be ironed out a result is not impossible and it would certainly improve our chances over the rest of the season of staying up even without any further additions to the squad.
I have always found Wycombe to be one of the most benign grounds to visit and have never seen anything remotely hostile

Fifty, is the moron(s) aimed at me? If so get your facts right. I am not a Wycombe supporter, I support Tranmere and like you have done for well over 50 years. Living down south now I am not always aware of what has taken place at home games and only comment when I have actually been, unlike some! I will be going on Wednesday and hope all remains calm off the pitch. If I am wrong in my presumption I apologise but perhaps you should preview your posts before actually posting in future!

Well, look at the table. There are worse teams than Tranmere who have been in league 1 a while now...

The reality is that this season was/is always going to be a struggle. I prefer that to us being in a league 2 playoff. At least the club can bed in.

Mind you, if you look at John King's actual record, social media would have been the same as this thread during a game. From Cr4p to Bwilliant.

Absolutely. Some folk seem to be adamant we're in some sort of deep-seated crisis when in reality, as you point out, we were never going to be a top-end side this year and that's due to coming so far in such a short space of time as well as being in the lower budget bracket for this league. There will be the odd further battering to come this season, it's unavoidable given our situation (and it happened to our better teams at this level, too). Despite that, we've certainly shown that we're more than capable of holding our own and I've not seen anything to suggest that the squad is cannon fodder and incapable of securing survival.

Its fair to say we didn't have a lot of possession, Scotty had an inspired game should do wonders for his confidence. In the first half it was a fairly even game, Wycombe are quite one dimensional, launching long balls forward, in the most part Ray/Monthe/Nelson had a good grip on things. Once Wilson had gone off it was a case of defending deep and using pace on the counter attack. Ferrier as an absolute PITA for their back line probably horrible to play against. Don't think anyone had a bad game, CBJ was good when he came on, For me Morris was MOM by some way our best player today. It was incredibly cold at the game, probably second to Oldham in the cup way back when, but the SWA were in in fine voice, unlike the very quiet home fans.

I echo all that. Plus the two young lads from Villa led the line well when they came on.
I also thought we defended well after the half-time change and, once we got to extra time, for all their possession Wycombe ran out of ideas.
Bags of character and this should do wonders for confidence.

Wow what a night .well worth the drive down and taking today off .Scott was amazing pulled off some great saves and looked the great keeper he is (take that captaincy off him though it's doing him no favours) the sending off was a rush of blood to the head and think red card was a little harsh but in the end wow did it spur the 10 men on every one of them dug in gave a little extra and although it was backs to the wall and nails bitten to the elbow we deserved it on one of the most gutsy performances I seen in a long time .I don't know what it is about this bunch of players we got but one game they can be so bloody awful and not even look a team and another day they can turn up and put in a performance like this .I don't know if we will stay up this year or go back down .and if we did go down again would it be such a disaster? We could be stronger and better for it some will agree some will disagree .but back to last night .well done lads you were a credit to the shirt and the fans who went . It doesn’t look on the highlights as though Wycombe cause us no problems as had been suggested, They had 19 shots 10 on target to our 6 and 3 along with 18 corners we had 1 corners. Looks like Davies put in a MoM performance to guide us through?

Glad you made it Gary, I knew I spotted a snowflake! Cold enough for one anyway.. (Sm24)
That performance warmed the cockles and the long walk back to the car after the game, up a bloody steep hill, finally warmed the extremities too.

Bored rover - Davies or Morris MOM for me though there were positives all over. If I was being unkind I'd say most of Scotty's saves were ones he'd have probably been criticised for if he'd missed them, though a couple were top draw, especially the one low to his right late on. He led by example, though he might be the only keeper to ever get booked for over-celebrating a goal!

I had us down to win 1-0 but never did I think we would do it (more than happy to eat humble pie ) looked like the Alamo at times on the bbc highlights, what I liked was when Wilson was sent off and the Wycombe players were making the most of it right in the middle was payne not giving an inch which tells us about the ream spirit, anyway thanks to the staff, players & fans who have put a massive smile on my face today, really are the super white army

Notices when Wilson got sent off Payne went over to the injured player .stuck his beak in either muttering in his ear or trying to drag him up hence handbags at dawn ,he could have gone as well .wilson just walked ,not confronted by anyone so why get involved ,aggressive is ok ,stupidity isn’t .scotty was like that Polish goalkeeper years ago who Clough called a clown ,but he kept England out and out off some tournament ,that one still sticks in my mind ,with the other goalkeeper who did a backward flip ,putting the ball over the bar ,I think he was Mexican ,but we had the flying pig

So you do regard 'snowflake' to be an insult then. Good job you never use it.
You'll like the report on the official Wycombe site. It mentions the Rovers fans "who relented their senseless booing for a short period to celebrate the goal".
Then again, they refer to Potter's inch perfect pass to pick out Ferrier's perfectly timed run off the defender's shoulder for the goal as a "hopeful ball over the top"! (Sm36)

I know we've had our bitterness on here, but, judging by numerous comments, they seem to have a misguided superiority complex and appear particularly deluded about their status in the football world. Noticed another comment on their forum that the poster stated that he feels sorry for Chicester having to come up here! So glad, we stuck one up them and brought them down to earth with a bump! πŸ˜€. It's one to dine out on until the next round; just hope we get a decent gate to show appreciation for the achievement last night. Hats off to those who made the journey and I wish I'd have been there and envy those who've put another notch on their bed post of particularly memorable TRFC conquests.

Yes there's a bit of cockiness about them, Phil, though in general I've usually found them to be a fairly down to earth bunch.
The substitution of your pal Akinfenwa at half time also looked a bit complacent in hindsight, as their attack lost its focal point once he'd gone.
Chichester I'm sure will enjoy their welcome at PP. Just looking at Twitter you can already see all the excitement and what it means to them, a bit like South Park's visit but on steroids! One report reckons they'll bring 2,000!!

Yes, that's normally the way in reality that most are down to earth; I guess social media has it's fair share of Internet banter boys πŸ˜€. Some of the Wycombe folks concur with your point about the Akinfenwa substitution; I might briefly let the small chap out of my pocket (and that's not a euphemism!) on Saturday to enjoy the sights and sounds of Fleetwood πŸ˜€. Looking forward to Chichester, particularly if they bring 2,000!! Something about these ties against the lower tier clubs that epitomises everything that is good about the FA Cup. "South Park ...on steroids".......now that would be some animated TV show; not suitable for snowflakes though!
