They can field a team tonight for sure since all the youth who played in the Cup game on Saturday are considered now to be Acceptable Players since they played in their last game......

some on the macc, forum said the players should have played on sun, hoping a win would have netted £36,ooo trouble is would the money have gone straight to the owner? this has been an ongoing problem for some time

If it carries on like this with Bolton, Bury and Macc then, with Mark and Nicola in charge, we'll be getting an invitation to the Championship as there will be no-one else left.

This has been going on at. Mac for a few years, but just like Bury, they stuck their heads in the sand and didn’t give a toss about the situation when they were getting promoted. Remember the who the f are Tranmere on the Mac bus. Bury gloating then they got promoted at PP. both clubs at that time knew they were in deep trouble.

They are now trying to turn this on the EFL, who didn’t make them do any of it. If the chairman wants to run down the club and the fans turn a blind eye because they are winning, then sorry but don’t blame the EFL now. For every Bury and Mac there will be a FGR or Salford waiting in the wings.

What’s wrong with a bit of new blood, all adds to the spice.

The problem was that the chairman hasn't got enough money but point blank refuses to sell. I was told this by the main sponsor two days before they got the points needed to take them up. He said that the chairman ''keeps on coming to me asking things like ''have you got a spare £50000 for this? I don't know how long this can carry on.But he point blank refuses to sell.''

Two days later ,the same sponsor was in the front seat of the coach back [from Eastleigh I think]interviewing John Askey[who is a personal friend now client] after they'd won the league.

A friend of mine is on the council at Macclesfield. Says they are in a dilemma over wether to bail them out or not. They came to the conclusion, after investigation, that its all the chairmans fault and will not be putting any money in.

Football has been changing for years in 20 years time there will be no promotion to the championship and Lg1 and 2 will be effective non league using part time players, we are one of the few countries with 4 now realistically 5 professionals divisions

I fear you are right BoredRover the small town teams will go to the wall or use part time players ,then the big boys will charge what they want and the stupid punters will pay it ,it’s not everyone who thinks the PL and the players are the bees knees can’t stand either ,it’s only for something to watch on a cold winter afternoon and only if a team I like to watch like Wolves ,Bournemouth Chelsea (thanks to Lampard ) are on ,money has absolutely ruined the game

What I meant to say (silly billy I am )Upton Rover is he is giving young English talent a chance ,unlike previous foreign managers ,and they are good to watch and will be future English talent for the national side ,I would rather watch a team like that than these pathetic mercenaries who have introduced a whole new culture of cheating to the game the good thing about them when they retire they can go into ,the movies as a battlefield victim ,very well versed in that form of method acting, for each movie make a fortune ,just change the uniform ,a. Few cries ,”you have done for me Fritz “ or Himmel Englander you have killed me ,or the old favourite “tell my wife I love her “kindly sergeant”” tell he yourself when you get home “” soldier expires ,the end

I have a feeling, but could be wrong, England is the only country in the world to have 4 fully professional divisions.

Even the French, German and Spanish 4th tiers are not 100% profressional, as far as I know

Has anybody ever seriously and rigorously costed the return to the old north/south structures with a view to ascertaining whether this could provide a more sustainable basis for survival for the lower leagues?

Controversial former Billericay Town owner Glen Tamplin has bought Romford FC and named himself manager...a comment from Tamplin….

" I could have got involved at Macclesfield or Welling but I like a challenge - I had to go somewhere with potential, that was lower than where I went before because I need to do it bigger than I've done before."

Romford are currently bottom of the 8th tier but they have planning permission and funding for a brand new two and a half million quid stadium.

Wasn’t someone saying something along the lines of mad foreign billionaires?

I feel sorry for the Romford fans for whatever stupid publicity is about to come their clubs way.

I remember the old Div 3 North/south it was set up because of the lack of fuel for long journeys ,it worked in one way ,no nights away easy fixtures over the holiday times ,but these days it would not work same teams all the time ,no promotion what’s the point off supporting a team that’s never going anywhere ,people want /expect more these days ,but I certainly think the days of the small clubs are numbered ,we will always be a football nation but not sure how it will all work ,what’s for sure the big boys will look after themselves .or it could go another way the old town teams go and the new money teams will take over

Not sure I agree with that 50. One of problems with N/S used to be the promotion issue, but the advent of playoffs means that it is relatively simple to allocate a third promotion spot between two divisions. Far more difficult will be the apathy of a mid-table finish in a regionalised division versus being in the promotion hunt in the current structure. I doubt any increased attendance from more local games will make up for this.

I'm also not so sure about the death of the lower leagues. In many ways the clubs who need to worry are the mediocre Premier League teams. At some point money will out and a Europe wide league will supercede the PL. The English clubs who miss out are then going to find themselves in the same place the lower leagues are now and that will be a massive culture shock.

I don't think there needs to be a return to regional league football. a team like Oxford playing a team like Sunderland, should be seen as a rite of passage for being in league 1, not only confined to the luck of the draw in the league or FA cups.

Plus I think for some people it might be boring playing clubs with 100 miles of theirs most of the time and it could weaken the standard of those leagues, as you dilute league one and two sides, which in the current financial climate of higher wage disparities between certain clubs, might make it a bit too one sided.

It obviously made sense back in the day, but that might have been when promotion and relegation was decided by who could pay another couple of schillings to a striker and who couldn't or some reasonable discrepancy.

A club like Morecambe struggle for attendances and to spend enough money to break to the top six in league 2. If they were suddenly in a league with a team like Sunderland, it might seem glamourous like it could in a cup match, but you survival depends on not losing to a club like that by a margin of potentially 5 goals or more, it might be an issue and how would the TV rights money work?

Do you give both leagues league 1 standard payouts, which boosts some clubs, but would do nothing for others, so those clubs might feel what's in it for us.? Alternatively you find a half way house deal, but then some clubs get a boost in spending and others get a reduction, leading to possibly one or two clubs being debt ridden fairly quickly.

I don't think in the current financial climate it would make sense to go back to a north / south league club split, or be initiated for some or all of the reasons it was in the past.
