Crisis club Gateshead have been denied a licence to compete in the National League next season.

The league has held a number of disciplinary hearings to investigate the situation surrounding the club’s perilous financial situation and the issues that saw Gateshead kicked out of their International Stadium home by the local council.

The outcome has found “multiple breaches” of the league’s membership regulations and the club has been punished with a 9 points deduction for their tally from last Season.

Dropping down past National League North & South levels
Into Northern Premier League.

Will that mean a reprieve for Aldershot? I hope so.

Seem to be swift action on clubs in this area of the football pyramid for any financial ill doings.

This sort of thing happens quite a bit down the pyramid (not the financial wrongdoing, but clubs resigning from a league to move down), the general form is for the last club relegated to stay up, which would be Aldershot. You have to feel for the Gateshead fans.
