He's not going anywhere:

So sick of this never ending saga. Only glimmer of hope from this article is that its a negotiation tactic to try and extract the maximum amount from the club before he goes.
Even hoping for that scenario demonstrates what a sorry mess this whole situation is.

"Things have obviously been difficult but I love Arsenal, I love to work there, I love the people in the club — the real people, those I’ve been with for a long time — and I love London, it’s my home"

Found that quote telling, seems to be trying to mobilise his fanboys against the likes of Raul & Co.
This situation needs to be solved at all costs. We cannot go into another season with this saga rearing its head every time something goes wrong on the pitch.

"Things have been difficult but I love Arsenal," he told the Athletic. "I'll decide when I go, not other people." Arrogant twonk.

He won't walk away from that amount of money and he won't get it anywhere else. You can't blame him for this, he should never have been given such a lucrative contract.

He needs taking out.

If he loves London so much, why is he flying off to Turkey at every opportune time?

Can't we stop him making these trips ?

Our football club is not the platform to air concerns of a political nature.
There's a huge difference between ' Arsenal player Ozil deplores Chinese Muslim situation' and 'Arsenal FC back Ozils stand on Chinese Muslims.'
Our football club cannot involve itself in issues of the struggle of a minority religion in another country.
I have no problem with players involving themselves in this terrible issue, but MO cannot drag Arsenal FC along for the ride.
And IMO he is wrong, attempting to do so.
I'd suggest Arsenal should look closely at possible contract breaches, but I guess they have already done so.

Self sustainable is a word that rich people with short arms and deep pockets use.

I think it will be another landmark case like Bosman if Arsenal decided to just terminate Ozil contract and pay him 18-mil to leave.

In contract law, as long as you pay off the value of your contract, there is nothing you can do except to accept the remaining value of your contract and leave.

Plus, during that one year period when you had been paid off, you are forbidden to seek alternative employment till the expiration of your paid for contract period.

Why can't Venkat and Fahmy just called Ozil's bluff and simply paid him 18-mil to f**k off?

A lot of money to pay him off.
But anything to get him out of Arsenal.

We could give him a testimonial.

He would have to cut short his holidays in Turkey.

Or keep him to help the youth team win the youth league title.

And he has so far culled three players, with Blaise Matuidi already departing for MLS side Inter Miami.

Experienced stars Higuain (32) and Khedira (33) have followed, with Pirlo taking the drastic decision of cancelling the pair's contracts a year before their expiry, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Now, why can't Venkat and Edu just do that and move on without Ozil?
Let Fahmy discussed compensation with Ozil agent.

Makes a lot of sense on paper. But first they will try to make him go work subsidized wages and try to get some money. We need every penny as most of our revenue comes from the stadium which is empty.
