We really like playing Burnley.

Leno, Bellerin, Mustafi, Luiz, Saka, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Ozil, Martinelli, Aubameyang, Lacazette.

Subs: Martinez, Sokratis, Ceballos, Torreira, Pepe, Willock, Nketiah.

FIXTURE HISTORY

Burnley have lost their last 11 matches against Arsenal in all competitions, a run stretching back to March 2010.
Arsenal have won their last 10 league games against Burnley - they last won 11 in a row against an opponent between 1994 and 2004 against Manchester City.
Burnley haven't led for a single minute in 11 Premier League games against Arsenal. The only team to have played more games against an opponent without ever leading is Portsmouth against Chelsea (14 games).

Shocked how Laca keeps his place, maybe he will prove me wrong this game, I hope!!!

The Mustafi start is out of desperation of the CB options we have, so sad for such a big team.

Want to see some good play and a style that Arteta will move us forward for next season, this season is over and we have two cups to play for.

Pepe has done more than Laca and provides better balance.

Laca just f ucks everthing up!

Guendouzi is a far better player than Torreira for these kind of games.

Lacca's work rate is much more better.
Pepe is a passenger most of the games.
Don't need 2 passengers (Ozil)

Guendouzi is a liability.

Very wasteful in first half and they are getting into us.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

Choosing players based on their performances during training is not always the smart thing to do. Some of the best players in the world rarely exert any effort in training. To me Arteta biggest issue is his affinity towards the worst players in the team.

Re: Team news and Burnley match thread.
goonerred 02 February, 2020 16:12
It's going to be a bumpy ride for at least two years, at least. All this passing back is infuriating. I know sometimes you have to, but Luiz was half way between our goal and and the half way line, three times he tried to pass it forward and it just came back to him. In the end he sent it to Bellerin with too much on it and it went into touch. We have allowed defenders to get into a comfort zone for years, and nothing has changed in that respect. The positive is our defence though, whilst not perfect by any means, I think Aretea has strengthened them in that they are not leaving the back wide open from the half way line.

I was watching England in the rugby and both teams were as @#$%& as each other. Giving the ball aways, breaking down in attack, not converting chances. Only difference, France punished England, at least Burnley couldn't do that to Arsenal.

Cmon that is simply not true. Idk what Messi does in trainings but when it comes to others its just not true. You dont give a sh.t in training you are not playing nor becoming one of the best.

I think that with Pepe its a more of a 'you must do what i want you to do' case than anything else.

Patrick Vieira was lazy in training. He wasn't bad in matches, was he!

Pepe has shown he can beat a player which is more than you can say about most of the players. Pepe gives as far more balance than Laca, and allows our best players to play where they're best.

of course you have a good source to back up that statement. Or were you there? Gaining your superior football knowledge?

Even if he was (i doubt it) doesnt it prove my point that there is a player few times in a generation that has a talent so big that he gets away with not training as hard as the others? Pepe certainly isn't the one of them.

Draws are killing us. Four teams are tying in second place for the fewest games lost , 6 - Pool out in front with 0 . If we could have just converted a sprinkling of draws into wins...

Err if you've watched players talk about Vieira you'd know!

Training is different to matches. That goes for any sport.

If you can't see how Pepe gives us more balance, then you're more clueless than i thought you were!

Pepe playing allows our best striker Auba to play in the middle and allows Martinelli to play on the left.

Hope that helps...

What exactly did you won here? Balance in the team isn't better when you feel good about yourself. You say one ridicoulous thing, without any evidence to back it up, after another and call me clueless along the way.

Balance in the team is ruined when you have a lazy type of player who constantly leaves his fellow rb 2vs1, creates nothing on the other end and tries to put himself above the teams fortunes.

Its not quantum physics that training is different than games and im really not surprised one bit that i have to argue with you about working hard in training. Everyone who knows something about any professional sport will tell you this basic facts. Even if sometimes you play good in matches you must train and listen first and foremost.

Trying to bring Vieira down to Pepes level of dedication just to fit in your agenda is what i'd expect from an armchair manager as clueless as you.

Ask any Arsenal fan if they think the team is more balanced wirh Laca up top and Auba left and Martinelli on the right or Auba up top and Martinelli left and Pepe on the right and I can assure you i know what the majority would say!

A lot of top teams play with wingers that don't track back, so they can counter attack but I wouldn't expect you to comprehend tactics.

Pepe has performed as well as anyone in the side in the last 6 weeks.

And I didn't compare Vieira and Pepe. A lot of playeres are different on match days, I was giving you an example.

Arteta said Mustafi has looked good in training but he's been f ucking hopeless in matches!

Throwing out insults is what I expect from a little keyboard warrior like you!

Mustafi has been decent from the luiz sending off. Cut out the usual mistakes and his distribution and tackling has always been his strong point. This is the best he has played since the last 6 months of Wenger's reign.

He is slowly getting back to his decent /average level displays from his horrendous league 1 kind of displays that had become his trademark in the past one year.

Well you read my post, i asks us closing in on average /decent level from totally worthless. If you act to be competing you don't want average.

I just want him to get to average or above average so that we can get a good price for both him and xhaka. This season is a write of for me.

If we can get 20mn for mustafi, 35 for xhaka, 40 for douzi, 60 for auba and 35mn for Lacazette. We will be all set with Saliba coming back from loan.

Nketiah is a good third choice and English, so I'd like an experienced striker to compete with Martinelli upfront.

Also add some money from selling elneny, holding, mkhitaryan, mavropanos and we will be looking up.

Also we will probably have decreased wages by moving on Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette as they are our highest paid players at the moment.

Lots to do this summer.
