One footed and likes to play the ball out from the back.
He can get away with it in the Ukrainian Premier Division not sure he's up to premiership level yet.

When this story first broke the price was about 5 mill now it's 30 mill.

We need someone to step in now.

Le10Sport claim Barcelona have the ‘green light’ from Aubameyang for a January transfer. He reportedly wants a move this window, and playing in La Liga tempts him. Barcelona have had a keen interest in the striker for several months.

Reports in the Ukrainian media suggest Arsenal aren’t willing to pay the full £30m Sky Sports claim Shakhtar are asking for to sign Matvienko. Instead, they’re offering a £4.5m loan deal until the end of the season, when they’ll activate a £22m obligation to buy.

According to French outlet L'Equipe PSG are in negotiations with Italian giants Juventus over a 'swap deal' involving Mattia De Sciglio and Layvin Kurzawa.

Talks are said to have been going on for 'several days', with Kurzawa open to a move to Italy should an agreement be reached between the clubs.

According to Brazilian outlet Globe Esporte, Arsenal are negotiating with Flamengo over central defender Pablo Mari.

The 26 year old only joined the Rio de Janeiro based side last year, having taken a circuitous route to South America.

The Spaniard began his career with Real Mallorca, before establishing himself with Gimnastic. He then moved to Man City but never played a game for them. Loan spells at NAC Breda and Girona followed, as well as a season at Deportivo la Coruna.

In July of last year he joined Flamengo for around £1m. With Edu as a our Technical Director, the Brazil link makes sense, but he’ll also be well known to manager Mikel Arteta who was at City when he signed in 2016.

The 6’3 defender recently featured for Flamengo in the FIFA Club World Cup Final against Liverpool in Qatar.

He's cheap.

According to reports in Brazil, the 26-year-old has already bid farewell to his teammates and coaching staff at the Maracanã Stadium and is on his way to London to complete a £7.5m transfer.

Just to excite Gunners fans even more, Mari has been 'spotted' at an airport with the club's Technical Director Edu which would suggest the deal is close to completion.

He's not that quick, but as i understood its a loan deal with an option not an obligation to buy.

He's got a good left foot and i some sok and luiz are still Arteta's first choice pairing for now.

Mustafi pretty much gifts a goal per game, so a loan even if it appears underwhelming, its not such a bad thing.

I'm hoping that im right and it's not an obligation to buy but a first option on him on the summer.

6' 3", left-footed and a decent outing against Liverpool in World Club competition.

What more do we want for 26-year-old, on-loan for 7.5m GBP, with an option to buy in the summer?

Just grab him with games coming in thick and fast when UEL Cup resumes.

Re: January Transfer Window - Whither Sanllehi, Edu and Arteta?

The good news is gone are the days of midget defenders with present and future CB getting taller:

#1 - 6' 5" - Zech Medley
#2 - 6' 4" - Mavrospanos
#3 - 6' 3" - Saliba
#4 - 6' 3" - Pablo Mari
#5 - 6' 2" - Calum Chambers
#6 - 6' 2" - Rob Holding
#7 - 6' 1" - David Luiz
#8 - 6' 0" - Sokratis
#9 - 6' 0" - Mustafi

You can't have 9 no. CB in a 25-man squad.
Some of them got to go in the summer.

if we should sign Mari now, perhaps Mustafi can leave in January transfer window?

In the summer?
Most likely Mavrospanos and Sokratis leaving.
And Medley (and Holding) goes out on-loan then.

Then 2020/21 squad = Mari, Saliba, Luiz, Chambers plus another new CB?

If Arteta is anything like Wenger then he won't use or trust Mari to play for awhile unless an injury forces his hand. Anyway I watch Gabriel Paulista play for Valencia earlier against Barcelona and he was a wall. I can't help but think even very good defenders would struggle in Wenger's system.

Re: January Transfer Window - Whither Sanllehi, Edu and Arteta?

Loads of Arsenal fans have been reacting to a goal statistic involving striker Alexandre Lacazette which makes pretty grim reading for the Frenchman.
According to WhoScored, Lacazette has not scored an away goal against a current Premier League team in over 600 days. It is a revelation that has unsurprisingly left several supporters unimpressed, with one individual describing the 28-year-old’s abysmal record as “pathetic”.
You would have to say, though, that their frustrations do not just come from his away form. His displays in general of late have simply not been good enough. Lacazette has failed to score in any of his last eight games in all competitions despite not being afraid to go for goal.

And why Lacazette needs a new club to re-discover his scoring form.
EPL does not suit French forwards… like Chamakh, Gervinho, Giroud, Sanogo, et al.

Re: January Transfer Window - Whither Sanllehi, Edu and Arteta?

I don't know why Lacazette's form has dipped. If he wants a move away from us, playing@#$%&is not going to get him the best offer. Does our system just not suit his way of play?

Re: January Transfer Window - Whither Sanllehi, Edu and Arteta?
CazOnARola 26 January, 2020 10:47
It's just one of those things. One stops being calm in front of goal when one hasn't scored for so long. Torreira was scoring from chances that he was getting last season more effectively than this season. Now Torreira is missing narrowly, by next season he will become like what ozil and xhaka have become and hardly take shots.

Lacazette needs a couple of lucky goals to get going again mentally. Physically he is giving his all which also mean that he is always off balance when he gets to the ball.

He does and he has the strength to hold up play and used to score using his strength. I hope he comes good again, for him as much for us.

I thought it was still 'in the balance'. Arsenal as a club will rue all of this when people really do stop going. I have a friend who has been a season ticket holder forever, he remembers Chapman, but he gave it up last year. Age and declining health prompted his decision in part, but if he had been seeing fight and commitment, he would have carried on going.

Read a report that Bellerin is still having hamstring problems and Cedric will be a decent backup.

But wait … can AMN does a "Saka" as RB?
If we sign Cedric, it means that there is no future for AMN unless he improves rapidly as a decent back-up to Xhaka?

Curious about that. Maybe a new thread?

Wouldn't all happen in January but I was thinking something like this:

ST - Werner (£27 million rc)/ Jovic (possibly in Aubameyang deal?).
AM - Szoboszlai (£22 million rc)/ Olmo/ Grealish (cheaper if Villa go down?).
CM - Partey/ Soumare/ Sangare/ Doucoure (cheaper if Watford go down?).
DM - Camavinga (gamble at 17 but huge potential upside)/ Guimaraes.
CB - Upamecano/ Demiral/ Godfrey (cheaper if Norwich go down?).
RB - Dest (versatile)/ Aarons (cheaper if Norwich go down?).

Obviously a lot depends on who decides not to buy into what Arteta wants to do, and who we can actually get rid of.

Watched Upamecano playing last night against Bayern Munich.
He's a big lad and can defend.
But he doesn't look that quick.
Got caught with the ball a bit (to slow )
And looks uncomfortable with the ball.
