Question for SandyB ... Thinking outside the box

Are there any managerial candidates out there is South American football?

Given Edu's brilliant grab of Martinelli out from under the radar, could Edu find us a manager, too?

Great he got Martinelli but Edu isn't going to rescue us.

..my own take on the question is that there are potential candidates anywhere and everywhere. Not trying to be smart here - look at both George Graham and Arsene Wenger - neither an obvious standout and each brought success.
Thing is identifying the right man (woman) at the right time. Someone like David Dein excelled in this but times change....
Should we need a change of manager - and I personally believe we will do soon as Unai is sinking fast we need a strong personality with a clear vision.Emery has shown himself weak and indecisive - the captaincy, tactics (???) , Ozil etc.The guy tries hard but.....
Personally couldn't care if our next manager comes from South America or the South Pole we need clarity of thought and the pragmatism to know that the sport is about winning
Also , a pair of eyes would help - to see and deal with the glaringly obvious ( for instance our defence ??).

Not that I follow football too much nowadays but Renato Gaucho of Gremio and Marcelo Gallardo of River Plate both are pretty recognized name in South American football.
Julian Nagelsmann seems to be the young Hoffenheim manager I named 2 years ago for Arsenal when Wenger left is buzzing around as most promising star now with Leipzig.
Max Allegri is out of work probably out of our reach anyway.
My choice is Diego Simeone who likely isn't gonna come.
Last but not least albeit all the Arsenal misery my home team Flamengo is comfortably sitting on top of serie A, remember Gabigol he's on fire!! awesome isn't it!!

Hadn't heard anything from Gabigol in a while now you mention it. Good to hear he's doing well.
