Xhaka limped off in the latter stages of Switzerland's 4-0 Euro 2020 qualifying victory over Gibraltar on Sunday night with an Achilles problem, with the Swiss team's official Twitter account posting footage of his exit.
The midfielder, who is also the Swiss captain, later confirmed that the issue was one he has been suffering from for a number of weeks, but played down the significance of it.

“I’ve been suffering from Achilles tendon pain for a few weeks now. I felt it during the game,” he told reporters, via Metro .
“It hurts now, but it should be okay otherwise.”

Fellow midfielder Torreira was taken off shortly before half-time in Uruguay’s 2-1 friendly victory over Costa Rica in San Jose on Saturday night.

Uruguay media reports that the former Sampdoria man asked to be removed from the game shortly before the break, when he was replaced by Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

Maybe Xhaka has had the problem since he arrived here. It would certainly explain why he is absolutely f.ucking s.hit.

Albert Einstein once said: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
