Can Unai Emery converts 17-year-old Bukayo Saka into a wingback?

GG did it with Ashley Cole, converting a winger into a full-back with Arsene Wenger reaping the rewards.

Arsene Wenger is no slough, converting Lauren, a midfielder, into a world-class right-back. And converting Bellerin from a winger into a full-back. Even Bellerin himself admitted that initially, he did not know how to defence (and I beleive still learning how to defend with his pace bailing him out of howlers).

Bukayo Saka?
With Aubameyang, Pepe, Reiss Nelson, Ceballos and Ozil, he needed to wait for at least 2 or 3 seasons or more to stand a chance to displace Auba and Ozil from the left forward position, provided he continues to develop rapidly this season and next season.

With Nketiah, John-Jules and Balogun waiting in the wing, it is very tough to break into senior squad for a forward slot. And if Emery continues to pursue Zaha next summer or even January …

Like Ashley Cole and Danny Rose, Saka has the physique and pace to develop into a wingback with proper coaching from a defensive coach, and learning the high-intensive pressing and possession-based football that is dependable on pacy wingbacks that can cross accurately (taking a leaf from Klopp and Pochettino), Saka has all the ingredients to be as successful as Ashley Cole and Danny Rose as an English wingback.

With an injury-prone Tierney, Saka will be a good back-up with Tolaji Bola and Joel Lopez challenging for this wingback slot.

Not sure about this one Merl.

If, heaven forbid, we lose Kolasinac before Tierney returns to fitness, I suspect Maitland-Niles will switch to left back with Chambers in at right back.

I also expect us to strengthen the left back position over the next two windows, including a youth team addition due to the lack of quality coming through.

Why would we want to? He looks like he can be productive in the final third which is the most valuable thing, so why would we want to move home further back?
