Has refused to go on the club's US tour.

The Gunners head to America today for four pre-season friendlies, the first of which will see them take on MLS side the Colorado Rapids.

But manager Unai Emery won’t be able to call on the services on Koscielny, who has refused to travel Stateside.

“Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour,” a club statement read. “We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.

“We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time.”

He is on his way back to France methinks.

Just let him go, so many sides in France and Italy are interested.

Probably fed up of such a shambles our club has become and wants out rather than sitting on bench.

The club probably want to keep him so they don't have to sign a good defender after Saliba.

I believe he wanted to be allowed to return to France on a free yeah.

I always knew he was a coward and a bottle but jeez how unprofessional.

Despicable behaviour from our so-called “captain.”
Time to cut him and his dodgy Achilles’ tendons loose.
Damaged goods.
He is incapable of playing full minutes for a full season in a real league anyway.

What extraordinary managerial incompetence by Arsenal though to let this situation develop!

Clearly he won't be with us next year highlighting our need for a top quality central defender

Letting him leave for free after this would show incredible weakness and could mean other players try similar approaches. He either needs to be sold for money or left to rot

It gets better by the day

Under new managment

Re: Koscielny

I'm quite happy the club has been transparent on this though. Under the previous regime this would've been quietly covered up by an "injury" or something.

Koscielny is feeling entitled and is spitting his dummy out because he isn't able to move for free. F*ck him.

Re: Koscielny
MattySadler 11 July, 2019 15:12
Apparently he wants to pay out the rest of his £90k a week contract himself.

Can't see that happening. Surely his next club could sign him for less than that?

Bergmars 11 July, 2019 15:47
If we get money let him go

This smells ...

He has been tapped up by some other club that is willing to pay off his wages here.

Fine.
Pay us money.
Get rid of the @#$%&!

Why jump to blame him? This club is poorly managed and every smart player should be jumping ship. Also they agreed with that he could leave (player option like the NBA) after last year if he so desired. Because they are cheap and don't want to sign anyone they decided to keep him and reneged on their deal.

Re: Koscielny
MattySadler 11 July, 2019 17:24
We are poorly ran yes, very much so in fact, but not only is he a professional under a contract, he is also our captain.

Re: Koscielny
Kalela 13 July, 2019 03:58
That means nothing in my opinion. The man is 34 years old. He has played for arsenal almost 10 years. He has been a professional all the time he has been here and has given his best when healthy. The smart thing to do is to let him go and sign with whoever he wants to play with. The fact that they released this shows how stupid the people who ran this club are. Besides he is washed up and error prone anyway and the club should have been in the process of replacing him instead of overreacting when they themselves refused to respect the deal they have reached with him.

Re: Koscielny
MattySadler 13 July, 2019 06:15
Being a professional under contract and our captain should mean something.

We've paid him good money while he has spent an awful lot of time out injured.

Re: Koscielny
Trent2000 13 July, 2019 17:48
This situation is just shocking, how many other clubs have their captain refuse to play for them?

WTF is really going on, so disappointed in Koscielny, but something seems really odd about it, that we are not privy to.

Emery seems to be losing control of the team after just one season, which is something he encountered at PSG.

Going to be a very long season it seems already.

I see Neymar is agitating to go back to Barcelona. Rumours about Kos wanting to go have been running a long time now. I think he is a broken down player who can no longer play 38 a season and wants a lighter regime. Meanwhile Arsenal packed out with c.rap defenders don’t want to lose a half decent one who will cost a lot more to replace.
What ever Kos’s reasons, whatever their merit he is out of order and he is to blame for his actions no one else. He does need to go and we need to buy a better replacement but the club is trying to cut corners and scrimp and save. This mess is beyond the manager.

- until Wenger moves on, they'll always be the also-rans in the major competitions. A club in elite purgatory. Always good enough to make it to the big race, never fast or smart enough to push over the finish line in first place. That's all about the manager. Until he changes, Arsenal fans will continue to celebrate glorious failure.

This has nothing to do with emery. Don't be surprised if emery walks the next season of stop caring so that he gets sacked. The entire club hierarchy is absolutely clueless and more importantly don't seem to give any Damn at all. Not just kronke. You have seen mislintat and Gazidis make a run. Few more will follow soon. And no matter what wenger did and how we hate him for not walking earlier, lining at the current situation, the decision to not buy schwarzer for 1.5 mn extra makes sense as it looks like we are reluctant to spend at all. Please don't quote Aubameyang. We also sold gabriel, theo, giroud, coquelin that season. Now we don't have anyone of any value to sell left

Re: Koscielny
Padre Pio 14 July, 2019 09:15
Mislintat was pushed, probably the only one with real talent. I suspect he was pushed because he wanted to buy players.
