Keeping him would've been a risk, but a worthwhile one and one we should've taken.

Best case scenario, we get him fit and he makes up for lost time. Worst case scenario, he breaks down again and we have one player who doesn't play and contributes nothing, which sums up Elneny's role this season.

I absolutely love Santi. The most two footed player I have ever seen.

However, I fully understand why we didn't;t keep him. He didn't;t want to be here any more. Not because of Arsenal but because he spent years with the British medical community telling him he would not be able to play again, telling him he would not be able to walk.

He returned to Spain and they offered him hope, new treatments and a return to football.

The UK is full of bad memories for him. I don't blame him for returning to Spain.

That makes sense. He was handled horribly.

If he stayed with Arsenal, he will be injured again. La Liga is more suitable for him given this stage of his career. Plus we have the Arsenal injury curse.
