Under 18's and U21's
Badge32 03 February, 2016 12:41
The Under 18's made it one defeat in eight after they beat Liverpool 2-0 on Saturday. However the Under 21's drew 0-0 with bottom placed Brighton which means they have won one of their last 14 games.

Forgetting the politics about the academy, I get the feeling the U18s are a decent collection of lads - perhaps not so the U21s. It's a shame, we know it's hard enough to get any kind of contract at that age without pressure of the board and some supporters pointing to them as the future. Some may well be, there would be no one happier than me, however they have become a political pawn of the 2Ms and their legacy.

In the meantime, I hope they keep winning - the U18s in particular - and enjoy their football.

Maybe we can put all the results of the under 18s /21s in this thread so we don't have to keep creating new threads.

The under 21s are more indicative of how a youth setup is going as they are nearer the first team with the under 18s basically being just children playing children only one step up from a school playground so very little can be read into it. Most clubs don't even have under 18s so for people to be basing our hopes on children having a kickabout is a bit sad/ desperate.

Sad and desperate is where we are at right Now Angry, so any success is a bit of light relief.

U18s lost 3-0 at home to Reading tonight in the Youth FA cup. That's a very disappointing result.

I don't pay any attention to the under 18s.. the link between them and the first team is so tenuous its barely worth having an under 18 setup. The under 21s are a better gauge to how decent a youth system is with it being a more direct supply line into the first team. The under 18s are just school kids who aren't even fully grown so you will get one who is mature for his age with the physique of a man being a better player than an under developed similar age lad who may possess more talent overtaking him as a footballer at 18/19 when he physically grows. If wolves had an under 5s nursery centre we would probably here how they will be our future in 15 years with match reports coming from the mix propaganda machine to validate it with a crushing victory over the tiny terror west brom play centre. I mean the under 18s beat "the met police" in the last round, you cant even join the police under the age of 18 but apparently u don't have to be a copper u just turn up and play if u have some boots.. its pathetic really.

Well the moment many of us have been waiting for has finally arrived... the under 21s match with solihull Moor complete with hound of the baskervilles upfront has kicked off. News filtering through that the hound has nodded the moor 1 up hasn't surprised the watching wildlife and screams of rage as to why its only 1-0 against the worst youth set up in English football ring around the mist enshrouded pitch.

The blood curdling cry of the Solihull moor hound can be heard terrifying football clubs up and down the land as they advance to the semi final.

Drew 1-1.

Solihull missed first two penalties while we score first but Hause then hits the bar. we lead 3-2 after four penalties but they score fifth and we miss. Both score number Six to go 4-4 before they score and we fail to go out 5-4.
so glad we are concentrating on the youth .

Our under 21s wouldn't beat a girls primary school second 11 yet this represents our future. People say its due to how many have been promoted to the first team which is hardly a ringing endorsement given the wretched quality of that team with the season over in February for all intensive purposes due to relying on this pathetic academy.

The under 18's lost 2-0 at Blackburn last night meaning we finish 7th in the North group (Unless WBA beat bottom of the table Man U 14-0 to see them jump above us on GD). We will go into the Middle Play-offs along with WBA, Middlesboro, Spurs, Leicester and Villa. Also joining us will be either Sunderland or Blackburn and either Arsenal or West Ham.

Never mind the Huddersfield result (however bad it was) our U21 side today played and managed to salvage a 1-1 draw with the mighty Telford. However this doesn't tell the whole story of the game as Telford had a player sent off after only 3 minutes of the game.So don't worry folks our future is that of a side that can't beat a part-time outfit down to 10 men.

The U21's drew 1-1 tonight with West Ham. We stay a point ahead of Brighton who drew 2-2 with Derby.

Well WBA lost 3-0 so we did stay 7th. And as Sunderland and Arsenal both lost their final games they are both in our second stage group.

On Saturday Wolves under 18's got thumped 7-2 at home by Leicester. This means we have lost three in a row and It ended Leicester's five game win less run.

Last night the under 21's held third placed Arsenal to a 1-1 draw. We are now 2 points ahead of bottom placed brighton who have a game in hand due to their game being called off.

At first glance you wouldn't think that a 1-1 draw at Arsenal would be a bad result for the U21's, but when you look at the 2 teams then it doesn't look as good. Six of the starting XI last night have played for our first team; Deslandes, Hause, Price, Rowe, McAlinden and Enobakhare, whilst there were others like Flatt, Hunte and Ronan who have all been given squad numbers and been on the first team bench this season.

Under 18's drew 0-0 with Albion this morning. Both sides finished with ten men. Joe Delacoe was sent off for Wolves.
