Match Thread: FA Cup Semi Final - Watford FC vs Wolves

The Coaches - Nuno & Javi

By Wolves
April 7 2019

Wolves travel to Wembley today for a massive match against Watford, seeking the chance to play Manchester City in the 2019 FA Cup Final

Approximately 34.000 Wolves fans will be in the national stadium hoping their (and our) team can overcome a big challenge from Watford - the team that beat us at Molineux and currently lie one point below us in the Premiership. Wolves have a fully fit squad once again to choose from, and John Ruddy is once again espected to play in goal. Roberto Pereyra - who scored a good goal at Molineux - is a doubt for Watford. However for such a match the form book is surely going out of the window and performance today will be key.

The match kicks off at 4pm and will be decided by penalties if needed after extra time. It will be screened live on BT Sport. As always Board members are encouraged to post their observations on here for the benefit of those unable to see the game. Fingers crossed it will be a Wembley final for us next month.

Two changes in the line-up for this afternoon’s game. As expected Ruddy returns in goal and also Saiss replaces Bennett:

Line-up: Ruddy, Saiss, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Neves, Jonny, Jimenez, Jota

Subs: Norris, Bennett, Vinagre, Gibbs-White, Costa, Cavaleiro, Traore

Referee today is Michael Oliver

Cheshire wolf

Excellent block by Coady to deny Gray Corner comes to nothing & half time whistle goes
Wolves lead through a Matt Doherty header from corner kick, otherwise a very even match in which both teams have had chances

My stream cut out for the Watford pen - was it a penalty in your view Cheshire?

Cheshire wolf
07/04/2019 18:19
Very hard to tell Angry despite all the TV angles. Deeney is a well seasoned player and whether Dendoncker caught him or not I’m not sure but VAR confirmed it!

Cheshire wolf
07/04/2019 18:20
Second half of extra time starts and we need a goal!

Cheshire wolf

Absolutely gutted at this - will take a long time to recover . seconds away from a cup final. I feel fcking distraught

Cheshire wolf
07/04/2019 18:31
Not looking promising for us now - Traore making runs but no end product. Raul unlucky not to control a Vinagre Cross better go give him a chance

Cheshire wolf
07/04/2019 18:32
Glorious chance for Cav but he fluffs it

an angry wolf
07/04/2019 18:33

The match had everything you could hope for apart from the result.
Well done Watford, you didn’t give in but we should have taken it to penalties—————————-!!!!!

Absolutely gutted but at 2-0 up we started to sit to deep and invited presure.i know I'm biased but I don't agree with var or ref on the penalty it really harsh but deeney is a crafty old pro he played for it.so close to final it really hurts this one like no other semi defeats. Its going to take a while to get rid of this feeling.ive waited years to see us reach an fa cup final,it's a cruel game football.

Bad feeling.
But if Wolves are really back in the big time- and I think we are - this will be just the start of the dream. But we shouldn’t have taken Diogo off.
And bye bye Adama!

wolverina

Well we're not going to become a@#$%&team over one heartbreaking result. They have to regroup and crack on until the end of the season - which has been brilliant over all.
