Match Thread V Rotherham United (H, 11/03/2017)

By Badge32
March 11 2017

Wolves face the visit of Rotherham United who sit at the foot of the table. They have managed just one single point on there travels from 18 games. This looks like a home banker , but we all know what Wolves can do.

Match facts

Rotherham have won only one of their last 20 league meetings with Wolves - a 1-0 win at the New York Stadium in August 2014.

Wolves' draw at Ipswich on Tuesday ended a run of six successive defeats, five of which were in the league.

The Millers have picked up just one point from their 18 away league games this season - fewer than any other side in the top four tiers of English football.

Helder Costa has been involved in four of Wolves' last six home league goals (one goal, three assists).

Rotherham have conceded in each of their last 16 league games - their longest run without a clean sheet since 1991.

The Millers are 19 points adrift of safety and have lost nine of their last 10 league games. The other being a 1-1 draw against Blackburn.

The only other time Wolves faced Rotherham during the month of March was in 1986. The Division Three home match ended 0-0.

Games won: 14

We're playing one upfront , very ambitious as Lambert has obviously decided our best chance is a 0-0 or cagey 1-0 win hitting them on the break.

Bod, Cav & Dicko all on the bench with Weimann up front alone!! It beats me, so I reckon Lambert must have a cunning plan that we can't guess at!!

Ikeme

Coady
Williamson
Hause
Saville

Price
Saiss

Marshall
Edwards
Costa

Weimann.

Holy poop. Another permutation of 11. Weimann on his own!

I personally don't think we should dispatch PL but fuel to the fire to those who do especially if we fail to win. It'll either be inspired management or the forebearer of gnashing of teeth and hysteria.

PL clearly doesn't trust his front line in a match versus a dire opposition. Can't blame him but FFS, what a state.

Lambert should know what his best starting 11 is by now. Anything other than a win and he should be sacked at 16.50 pm today.

At the risk of quoting Tim Spiers from the E&S, a man who has only found his voice post Moxey and Morgan, he concludes that we were far worse today than v Ipswich and Reading.

This is so worrying given today's opposition. With our fixture list left, this will go right to the wire, at least I hope it does, because I cannot see us forging a series of results together to get us clear, especially with all but Rotherham appearing to be picking up regular points.

I can easily see us being relegated .

Tuesday A v Brentford, Saturday A v Fulham. OK then, was the case for us winning in London this coming week?

I was there and it was awful, how they did not grab a point at the death is beyond me. We should have been three down in the first 25 minutes as they had three one on ones which Ikeme saved. I doubt this win will save us and still think we stand a chance of going down.

Angry it was shocking, I thought we would go at them but we seemed to be happy to tap it around at the back before hoofing it forward. Costa was really poor today and his penalty was too easy for the keeper to save. I thought after he was rested in midweek he would be up for the battle but he was not in the game at all. Deserved to be subbed off.

I think football fans in general want more than just a result, they also want to be entertained.
Fair enough, a team will always have an off day / unlucky result / flat performance etc and fans accept this, but when fans have to watch garbage week in week out, it takes its toll.
