By Badge32
March 7 2017

Wolves will go to Portman Road to try and end a run of 6 straight defeats. Wolves have not beaten Merlin Mick since we sacked him.

Match facts

  • Wolves last lost seven matches on the trot since March/April 2012, all in the Premier League, when Terry Connor was manager following the sacking of McCarthy.
  • Wolves have not won on their last two visits to Portman Road, since a 2-0 victory in September 2012.
  • Since then, following the appointment of ex-Wolves boss McCarthy in November 2012, Ipswich are unbeaten in their last six league games against Wolves, the last four of which have been draws.
  • Wolves have won a league-high 57.1% of their Championship points away from home (20 out of an overall total of 35) this season.
  • Tom Lawrence has six Championship goals in 2017 so far - no other Ipswich player has scored more than twice.

Mick will be grinning thinking about this one. We therefore will have a chance; should be interesting to see who we field.
Be happy with a point

Ipswich v Wolves
Birmingham v Wigan
Bristol v Norwich
Blackburn v Cardiff
Nottm Forest v Brentford
Rotherham v Brighton
Sheff Wed v Burton

Some really key fixtures there. I can see Blackburn winning, Wigan and Bristol getting a point, Burton losing.

Forget the game(s) in hand we need to do our upmost tonight versus Micks Ipswich who have scored 4 less than us and conceded 3 less than us. It's not beyond the realms of possibility this evening, though if forced to make a prediction - how about 0-0?

I'd be happy with a point too - and then all eyes on the Rotherham match on Saturday

Its time for action, no more nonsense from Lambert and the players.
We need at least a point tonight, nothing else will suffice.

Tonights selection, Saville retains left back! Costa on the bench with Cav and Dicko

Two poor teams hoofing the ball around could result in us getting a break we badly need. 2-1 to us

Me too Cedric - it usually goes against the grain to predict a loss, but in this case ....!

Nothing much to report so far, until Doc win a free kick right on the edge of the pen area. Ipswich defender booked. Otherwise end to end stuff with very little else in between.

Wolves sound awful so far, continually making poor decisions and passes. Danny Batth is the prime culprit!

No probs Ian. I was just thinking this is one of those nights when you wish you had a darts match or something more important!!

The only good point is that Ipswich are as poor as we are. Half time whistle has just gone which surprised me - I didn't realise we had been playing that long! The line-up of the team, and the way that some of them are playing so poorly is confusing! Lambert said after Saturday's match that we were the better team in the second half and didn't deserve to lose, so why make so many changes??

Lambert needs sacking. Absolutely clueless to what his best side is, or how to employ tactics for those he chooses.

When, if ever, have we dominated a game with him in charge ?

Second half has started. No changes for either side. Batth booked for a cynical foul, his 9th booking of the season free kick on edge of area, then Doc concedes a corner

A bit more positive attacking play from Wolves in the second half, but the final shot at goal is still lacking. Weimann having some impact on the wing and linking up with Dadi quite well. Certainly get the feeling that Lambert's priority is not to lose.

You're probably right Angry - that would be pretty much typical of late! Our subs have been warming up for ages but no sign of any coming on.

Final whistle blown. At least the run of losing matches has been stopped, and Ipswich has never been a good place for us to go, so a point is welcome. We were the better team in the second half but still couldn't find the net.
Saturday's match against Rotherham becomes even more important

It's all quite bizarre isn't it Ivy!! How come Wigan can go & win at Brum after our result against them? It was a strange match to listen to tonight, it was as if that was just what the Ipswich fans expected judging by the lack of vocal support there.

443 Wolves fans there. Poor sod but respect to them.

Spiers tweeting that it's a missed opportunity tonight. We just can't score and the biggest reason to think we'll be relegated.

As for Wigan at Brum, well it's Brum - we are the only team that defies the usual poor form of the opposition. I have real concerns about Rotherham at home, we simply must win.

A very predictable result, Ipswich are the draw specialists and we cant hit a cows @#$%& with a banjo!
I think we will beat Rotherham on sat, but if we lose I wouldnt like to be at The Mol come the final whistle!
