By Jamie Best February 6 2010 Now that the dust has settled on our truly awful exit in the F.A. Cup against Palace, we are back to our bread and butter Sunday lunchtime against Championship Runners Up and Premier League fliers (how that hurts) Birmingham City.
How last season’s title challengers fortunes have fared this season is something of a sore point formany Wolves fans. While we have picked up a few points up until half way, theBlues have convincingly gone storming to 8th in the league.
If anything it shows thegap in financial muscle in this league, where Blues can and will push the boatout to get their man, it appears (unless Jez wasn’t doing his Early Bird PR talk up) we haven’t been able to do that to whatever extent.
But, come game time Sunday, we should be hoping that our wounded Wolves will come back fighting and not a hangover from our midweek cup exit or indeed our capitulation at Molineux to the Blues earlier in the season.
It would appear that thenew formation of 4-5-1/4-3-2 ½ (the ½ is for the willing Foley if you get my meaning) will be deployed again, which away from home against a team in form is understandable. But given our results whilst using this recently (two draws andloss) will it be enough to go for a much needed three points now that thebottom of the table is congesting up further?
How do you guys feel thegame will go Sunday? Personally i can only see a draw as our favourable outcome unless Doyle and our other attacking player(s) really step up and show they cando it.
Well given Birmingham's ultra tight defence and our lack of goals then at best we might score once, but more likely not at all.
Birmingham are not usually big scorers themselves, so my money is on them taking a leaf out of Palace's book playing a full back who has never scored up front as an emergency striker and him banging 4 or more in.
It has to be 3 points nothing less.
But the head says 3-0 or more thrashing MM comes out with some rubbish excuse blame every one but himself and keeps his job. The worrying thing is if no points on sunday then it could be a far few weeks befor we get some
Mick will set out to pinch a 0-0 result. If we go a goal behind I expect to be confronted by confusion and despair cos we haven't fielded a team for some weeks now that can chase a game or score goals.
