For some reason the other thread won't load. I'm going for a confident 4-1 win

Despite the bullishness of some of those associated with the shots, their statistics suggest even longer odds than which first appear.

Their record on the road is, for them, only a disappointing eighth best in the league. Despite their reputation as a dangerous attacking force, this reputation was built almost entirely on their home record.

If you remove the game at Prenton Park from their stats they only scored 23 goals in 22 games although similarly they only conceded one fewer, at 22 in 22 matches. That is meagre at one end and miserly at the other.

That suggests a team that usually goes away from home with the intention of not getting beaten, not one that goes to win.

Their trip to PP on Good Friday was the exception not the norm. They had to win that day to chase their play off dream and despite Rovers having just over 60 hours to recover after our physically demanding and mentally draining game against FGR it showed that if they try to go toe to toe with us we are every bit as capable of beating their defence as they might be of ours.

This continued on Wednesday night as we showed again that we have the potency to score and the fitness levels to defend all over the park.

With such a deficit to overcome they can't really afford to sit back at any point in the game. Even if they take a one or two goal lead we will see lots of chances coming our way. With Stockton, Norwood and Jennings all in goalscoring form I suspect a see-sawing game full of tension and mixed emotions.

Cooky off the bench to plunder the winner. 3-2. Hold your nerve everyone, and do not stop singing!

Anything better that 0-1 will suit as I won't be bringing a change of undies to the game.

This is a two-leg tie and the most important thing is to qualify.

it would be great to do it in style but let's not be too disappointed if we get beat or draw and go through after the heroics in the first leg.

All about game management. We are in the driving seat and they are talented with nothing to lose. Avoid injuries and qualify for the final is the best outcome.

We must not forget that, although the players and fans were superb in the first leg, if their defender had launched the ball into row "H" (don't think that stand has a row "Z") and the keeper hadn't dropped his wallet for the second goal, then the superb third goal that TRFC scored on the break might never have happened as Aldershot wouldn't have been caught on the break.

Aldershot are a very decent side and can still hurt us at PP. Qualification over the two legs is all that matters tbph.

Would love to witness another whacking but pragmatism is what we need to get to Wemberley.

An anti-climatic 0-0 draw, with no injuries or sendings off, and no uneccessary tension, will be just the job.

WThere side is younger than ours particularly the midfield and so they may recover better from the physical demands of the first leg. It would be no surprise if they dominated the last hour of the game.Despite this a 3 goal advantage is very significant. If we score first it will almost certainly be game over. In Jennings and Norwood we have players with the pace to counter attack.
As always the most unpredictable aspect is the quality of officials.Any sending off would give them real hope.I am sure MM will drill home the need to avoid cheAp cards by either arguing or wasting time?On Wednesday Maynard was carded for kicking the ball away and that sort of booking is needless
We need a disciplined performance and and with that most teams should be able to defend a three goal lead

Again it is hard to predict it depends on the intentions of Alsershot from the off, but if we continue to harrass and defend from the front I think we will win 2 0. Are they travelling by coach or staying overnight, it should be a great atmosphere cmon Rovers Wembley is calling.

Talking of which, was anyone else pleasantly surprised at how well Stockton kept up with Norwood to score that third? Not sure Cookie would have been able to keep up quite so well.

As far as I know all seating is unreserved although the club still ask fans to honour season ticket holders reserved seating ( even though theoretically the season has finished ).

I hope we can win and keep the winning habit. I thought both of Cole's goals showed great composure on Wednesday and think he can kick on with us now.

I will be watching the game on TV at Northern Rugby Club in Gosforth. Have a long distance season ticket but can't make this one. C'mon Rovers.

The trust have been tweeting out only 961 seats left in the kop as at midnight last night and 3,000 in total. If you're coming and want to buy a ticket before you get there to be sure you get in, don't forget if you do buy online you'll get an email with the tickets as a pdf attachment. You don't have to print this out at home, you can open the pdf and show the QR code on your phone at the gate.

Just zoom in on it (the code) so it almost fills the screen so it's easier to scan. They don't need to see any of the writing on the ticket, the code is enough. Bear in mind the stuff I said on the 'Attendance' thread though. Download it to your device, stop using the phone until you get there to save your battery, and don't break the screen on your phone today of all days.

Gonna get there even earlier now, 11:00?

Good luck everyone!

One, but you will get multiple codes on each PDF attachment. They will need to scan each code separately so a bit of faffing around scrolling to each in turn but if you're there early enough and haven't got 3,000 people in the queue behind you it should be fine.

Alternatively, if the people with you have their own phone, just forward the attachment to them and they can show their own code. Make sure you use different codes for each person or you'll get rejected.

Can't stress enough that if you can, download to your device and practice opening it (maybe leave it open on the phone) before you get there. No idea what mobile coverage is going to be like today.

It looks as though Wallace will miss next week. He left the ground on crutches and in tears. I fear it may be the dreaded ACL. What a pity if it is as he was playing brilliantly in the holding position. I don't know who will come in in his place but we will miss him.
Davies's save kept us in it and I dread to think what would have happened if they had scored then!

That was a superb performance.

Managed the game, went ahead and could have had a hat-full before Mensah's worldy.

Their second looked a bit sloppy and I had to check my undies for skidmarks when there was a scramble when we couldn't clear the ball.

All in all a great performance imho and on another day with the bounce of the ball we could have won comfortably.

Wallace will be a huge loss, poor lad. He was getting better each game and was very very good today.

MM will have to look to see if he's got something in the back of the cupboard for the final.

Yeah I thought the ref was one of the better ones today , at least he understood it was a contact sport and did his best to allow the game to be played . It looked to me that the Shots had come to deploy operation McNulty at the start of the game . The number of times they went down after a challenge with him seemed to me like they were trying to quieten him down with a yellow or worse get him sent off . Maybe it was just me being cynical but happily the ref wasn't card happy and just had a quiet word .

It's a 4 match ban I've been told. The lad Lucy who played in midfield at Maidstone looked pretty decent.

I spoke briefly to Tollitt after the game-asked him how his knee was.He said ''I think is's fine but the physio doesn't.''

4 match ban for a straight red? Unless there was some aggravating circumstances going to the FA I have no idea why that would be? Only reason i asked is I live abroad so don't get to games but saw Duggan in pre season when in I was in the UK and he looked very very good.
That said thanks for info and interesting re Tollitt. Lucy I saw highlights only and they all looked good so can't comment either way. Sure MM will work it out this week.

Triple blow if it's true about Wallace. Firstly for the match next week, secondly for the player if it's another serious injury and thirdly because he's been improving game on game and today I thought he played some amazing stuff. His composure on the ball, passes and running in possession were a cut above. Let's hope it's not as serious as feared and he make a full and swift recovery.
Incidentally it' came from another awful 'tackle' that went unpunished by the referee. Some on here have said he was good but I thought he was weak and didn't have the bottle to stamp down on some cynical play from Aldershot and a lot of what bordered on dissent from their mouthy 16.

Ok.

I'd be banging out the injury rumours about Norwood if I was Mellon, for all the dislike I have for him he's been very good now he's excepted his role as a winger as opposed to a whinger, he could be the difference on that pitch along with Jennings.
