Both teams need to win and neither can afford to lose! They are missing their leading scorer. I can see it being 0-0 but we would all settle for a scrappy 1-0!

Come on Rovers just do the business!

With their leading scorer out we might just scrape a win. I have more hope of that than I have that we will win next week.

It will be interesting to see the team Brabin picks and its formation in a go for bust match.

One striker to start and one natural wide player. Maynard behind the striker maybe??

Feels like a tight game in prospect.

Just disappointing that Braintree were losing and managed to win.

However if they lose to Altrincham then Tranmere can pounce and Altrincham have something still to play for.

However Tranmere could have done more to not leave themselves in this uncertain position. Even 1 more point would have forced Braintree to need the win, because a draw wouldn't work, but it is what it is.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Well deserved excellent result. We were definitely the better side for much of the game-would like us to have gone for it earlier than we did.Eastleigh just like Forest Green were nothing like the bullies they were at PP but overall they didn't play very well.Their keeper was again very good though.

Our best players by a mile were Ihiekwe and Norwood[who had a superb volley chalked of for offside]

The locals were very friendly and helpful and the main announcer gave us plenty of credit[both players and fans] .They even announced an MOM for both sides[Hughes being their choice of ours]

The walk from the station[20 minutes] was through a nice country park with a few miniature steam engines and carriages available for rides-I know a few of our fans took advantage of that. There was also a decent cafe there.

The only problem was that the train back seemed to go round the whole universe in the number of places it stopped at-took 2 and a half hours to get from Southampton airport Parkway to Birmingham!!

But a good trip to end this seasons' away league visits.

A great result, and a half-time PA announcer cum Impressionist comedian as a bonus haha!

I think the guy who was on at half time was an ex Southampton player who was involved with the charity they were backing. The main guy that I referred to was on the rest of the time.

It was a brilliant finish[one that was instinctive and that he didn't have time to think about before he hit it].I don't think though it was as good as his goal at Woking.

He was also unlucky when their keeper[who was very good in both our games] superbly stopped his follow up to Mekki's shot.

Yeah although I couldn't decide how much the Keeper knew about the save? He made himself big enough to get in the way but couldn't judge how much he knew about it?!

The Eastleigh game was the first game I have been able to make for a number of years. I took my little lad who is an unswerving Liverpool fan (his Grandad's influence and last laugh from beyond the grave I think).

What an awesome day out we both had. I loved the look on his face when he heard the travelling faithful in full voice from the very get go and those of you that were there did not let him down throughout the game.

I had resorted to having to follow Tranmere on the internet and this forum and was heavily dependant on other people's opinions regarding the team performances and individual players, so it was good to be able to see for myself first hand and pass my own judgement. I'll keep them to myself for more relevant topics on another day. I was just grateful that we were not the woeful team that some of you have reported having seen on other occasions during this season.

In response to some of the other things mentioned in this topic:

The Eastleigh staff from stewards, burger van and parking attendants, were all very helpful with directions, their general demeanour etc (in my experience). So thank you to them!

Norwood's disallowed was a great bit of skill and a well taken finish. I'm not convinced he was offside when the ball was played...but then I was't looking down the line to be 100% certain. To quote my lad, "That was better than a FIFA 16 goal!"

Their 'keeper definitely did not know a lot about saving from Norwood. We were quite close. But he did his job in getting his body in the way and that still makes it a superb save in my book.

More importantly...

My lad has asked to go and see Tranmere again but at Prenton Park next time. Maybe that red shirt can go in the bin sometime soon son?

I have to respectfully disagree as I felt that Brabin adopted his usual and effective tactics for away matches (i.e. extra man in midfield to stifle the opposition and remaining rock solid at the back, then becoming more attack minded towards the end to pinch a goal. Whatever peoples views are about our manager, he has certainly got it right for away games (with a few exceptions of course)

yes, can't fault mr brabin one bit for our away form. only cheltenhams away record is better. its these damn home defeats. if we do remain down here next season then hopefully the good away form will continue but we need our first 5 home games to read something like , won 4 draw 1 loss 0 (and many goals being scored in the process) but if our first 5 home games read something like , won 2 draw 1 loss 2 ( and those 2 defeats have been against the likes of solihull and bromley) then mr brabin hasnt learnt from this seasons home game experience.. as the bristol rovers fan stated ' youve gotta hit the ground running' its so true and if we are to remain down in the conf then an excellent start at home is imperative.. our home form has to be a major area of concern and sorted out right now.. if a poor start at home is to happen then the knives really will be out for GB . i just hope he has learnt a helluva lot about these 9 home defeats this season.
