A place for fans of both Tranmere Rovers and Torquay United to discuss Saturday afternoon's upcoming match at Plainmoor......
As Rovers prepare for Saturday's match away at Torquay United in the National League, our match discussion thread returns once again as Rovers look bounce back from last weekend's home defeat to Welling United. Torquay meanwhile will be looking to avenge the 2-1 defeat they suffered at Prenton Park back in late January.
Whether you are unable to make the game for any reason, or even if you are attending, this is the place to discuss all the pre-match build up including team line-up and score predictions, events during the match itself as well as all the post match fall-out and analysis. The thread is open to fans of both sides to discuss the events surrounding the game so if you haven't got a Message Forum accounts yet then why not sign up now?
Tranmere fans will make the long trip to Torquay tomorrow

We keep it tight hoping to catch them on the break, nicholson realises this and that a point will be great for the gulls and shuts up shop.... Drab 0-0 deaw that sums our season up
This is a real test given the way Torquay have picked up! We have to be positive and go hell for leather for a win! 2-1 the Rovers. I just hope Nathan Blissett doesn't score although I suspect he might!
"Jake and Jack down the flanks"....neither of these can beat a man! Lets hope Mekki is fit for this game because we have been very ordinary/poor without his skill, energy, crosses, corners and inspiration.

Mekki was very poor before he got injured. He has never inspired me.
0-0 draw and all the other results to be going our way.
Suddenly, in the 93rd minute, a Tranmere corner is headed clear to the edge of the box where Jenno slams the ball into the top corner. Absolute scenes erupt in the away end. Gary Brabin runs down the touch line in a Mourinho-esque fashion and launches himself into the the travelling Rovers fans....where he is quickly pushed back out as they carry on celebrating!
Torquay 2-1 they have suddenly hit form, a month ago I would have said 2-1 rovers they need the points we have all seen what happens when these so called poor sides are up for it ,more fight than us I am afraid
It is my nearest game of the season, just 100 miles round trip.Torquay seem to alternate between runs of success followed by barren spells. We have won both West Country away games and I just hope that the Gulls are about to start another poor run.We need three points so I hope that we go for a win.Not too bothered about Mekki,he can beat a man but too often there is no end product
Remember going down there in the 80's when Palios was playing. He hit the bar with a header, with the match finishing 1-1.
I am going for the same score tomorrow.
I didn't get the winner in the national but not complaining one bit. great day for the rovers, well done. football still baffles me though, welling win at prenton then they go and lose at home to kiddy today,, its a funny ol game.
Didn't go, nail biting on Wirral Radio, 1-0 is all it needs, move on and looking a little better the table, must beat Wrexham but still in their if we loose now, and then a 7 pointer against Eastleigh. My finger has been hovering over the cancel day off button for weeks now, and will certainly be their at least two more games, every time I think I can push it a fat bloke pops up in front of the fat lady, surprised I can still type it's that sore.
if we win the three games, would that be our best ever points total in a season?
in the season many fans spent the whole time giving the manager hell?!
I think we've never got more than 80 in any league

Correct. We've got 80 twice, never more. Kingy's great side in old Div 4, finished second, and Mathias' side in Lge 1 that didn't make the playoffs both got 80 points.
Open to correction but didn't Rays team drop a few points against Cheltenham. Would've seen us into the playoffs. Loved the central midfield of Gary Jones and Tyrone Loran Good to see him at Ian Goodisons testimonial
A good result in the end and great the Higdon scored and hopefully he can kick on a bit, because this goal makes him passable right now for me, but nothing special.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.
Quote from the Torquay Herald Express "United were second best for large chunks of the match". Would be good to hear the views of those who went (I take my possibly soon to be eaten hat off to you). A good day at the office but three more hard shifts to go before pay day. Surely Brabin must take some credit for the result as much as this might pain some.
According to Wirral Radio, Brabin changed the system around a bit which led to the goal so credit where credit is due!!!!
I agree with Matt34 about Higdon but if we had Kirby and Mekki whipping in crosses, would we be happier with Higdon because of the proper service he would be getting??
Yes - all credit to Gary Brabin. Not many fans would have warmed to the inclusion of Higdon from the start. It took him a while to get into the game but his goal was class. He made it look so easy.
I predicted Torquay win .i stand chastised I wish the last 3 games were away I fear Wrexham the most they can still catch us well done away support 300 to Torquay brilliant
Totally agree with Deadly's conclusion. We had a slight edge and yet we could easily have come away with nothing but for a couple of outstanding saves.
There were sound defensive performances from Vaughan and MacNulty in particular and in the second half Harris provided a bit of creativity from midfield although in general flair was lacking. In my opinion Maynard had a poor game.Norwood worked hard without getting much in the way of quality service
Higdon took the goal well from an inch perfect cross i.e there was no need for Higdon to jump ( gravity seems to be more forceful over Higdon who just does not seem to be able to jump). The goal vindicates the selection of Higdon but I would be worried if this was seen as grounds for playing him in the rest of the run up. We gained three points but Torquay were not impressive and we will not to play better to win games against stronger teams.
Great win, and a good response after the shocker of Welling. Away form isn't the issue and hasn't been all season. We have lost and dripped points in the big games at home. Let's see if we can change that next week.

However it could be seen as a bit unfair if he scores a vital winner and then is benched next match and he has experience of playing in league 1, SPL and Eredivisie; so he's used to bigger and more skillful teams than those remaining and were such a goal likely to inspire more confidence and maybe a small run of goals and / or assists, benching him would do nothing to promote that.
I think at the very least that goal must merit selection for the next game if nothing else.
