Adams Leaves Tranmere By Mutual Consent

By Deadly Submarine

Tranmere announce that Manager Micky Adams has left the Club.....

Tranmere have this morning confirmed that Micky Adams has left his role as Manager of the Club by mutual consent after a disastrous run of results which of course has left Rovers rock bottom of League Two with just two games of the season remaining.

Adams took over in October 2014 when Rob Edwards was sacked after just thirteen League games and having only been in his first managerial job since the summer of 2014.

Micky Adams was given a further 33 games to draw Rovers away from the bottom two in the League but despite good backing from the new owners in January which also saw Iain Hume arrive back at Prenton Park, Rovers couldn't get the results under Adams and his departure has, if anything, come far too late.

 Palios - Mark and Nicola

After a poor run of results the Palios' have decided to change the Manager for the final two games

Rovers now go into the remaining two matches of the season (away at Plymouth next Saturday and then at home to promotion chasing Bury seven days later with Assistant Manager Alan Rogers and Academy Manager Shaun Garnett in charge of the side as they hope to be able to do the almost unthinkable and remain in the Football League.

The Official Statement from Tranmere Rovers as per the Club's Official Website is below...

Micky Adams has left his position as manager of Tranmere Rovers by mutual consent.  Assistant Manager Alan Rogers and Academy Manager Shaun Garnett will take temporary charge of first team affairs.

We thank Micky for his work at Tranmere Rovers having taken over the Club at a difficult time and wish him all the best for the future.  The focus of the first team and everybody at the Club is now on the fight to the finish with a game at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 25th April when three points could lift them above both Hartlepool United and Cheltenham Town.

Seemly the right decision, this is probably the only thing that would of give us a change of mentality whilst there is still a chance. Feel a bit sorry it didn't work out for MA though. He did join a sinking ship after all.

Shaun Garnett is someone who i would say could be a good shout for the new Managers job, hes proven himself in the Reserves and knows our youngsters inside out. And its homegrown players who care about the club that will help us in the Conference (or league 2(Sm128) ).

I too have some sympathy for Adams. It was never going to be easy to rescue a sinking ship. Perhaps he was brave to accept the job in the first place. He must be feeling very let down by the players he put his trust in. He did not deserve some of the physical abuse he took if true (car trashed and eggs thrown). Let's hope for a miracle and somehow stay up. Not likely but not impossible either. Then depending on where we are next season, the club must appoint the most appropriate and available manager for the job. We need an experienced person and not as a lot of the fans would like, someone who may have been popular as player but without any credentials as a manager.

I don't like that Bury are in the promotion push still, we need the results to go the right way for us at that end to next week!

Yes we need Bury to win and be in a safe position so they have nothing to play for. But I feel it's so long of people being unhappy with the choice of management that I'm not sure we will ever be happy With the choice. I think because we have a big stadium that people think we are bigger club than we are. 10,000 empty seats every match would tell us otherwise. I'm not sure how we get back too a club were we the fans are all 100% positive and together. The only way club's can do that is throwing a lot of money at the budget. Our current owner who is fantastic by the way has sadly not got the cash to do it. We are a broken club right now that doesn't seem to change no matter which manager we bring in.

Two months too late but I had this fear he would remain in charge next season so at last that's a bonus now.

I hope he was told to leave though. If he's walked away himself then he's an absolute bottler!

I have no sympathy whatsoever for Adams who has done so much damage IMO to our club by his attitude, personality, team selections, tactics ,substitutions etc. Any sympathy I may have had for him disappeared out of the window after the way he spoke to me as the team arrived at an away game a few months ago.

I hope he was told to leave because if he has bottled it and walked he won't have our religation on his cv because if we do go down he took us. S.W.A

He must likely left because he would not have been top of any ones Xmas card list on the last day of the season so it was better was gone for our last day in the football league before our misadventures in non league that lead to the end of Tranmere as we know it.

I like many others supported MA even after that debacle at York but, the facts don't lie 12 points out of 54 since Hartlepool at home.

He brought in players he supposedly wanted but, with the odd exception there has been no commitment, energy or fight.

With the benefit of hindsight it would probably have been better if we had parted company earlier to allow someone else some time to turn it round.

I certainly didn't see us W3 D3 L12 out of those 18 games

to be honest sub i think he walked even though it hasnt been stated as such....i mean he cant ruin that precious cv of his and have relegated from division 2 on it

So where does everyone think it went wrong? At the start of January we were 17th in the league (I think) and I really thought we'd turned a corner and could push on for a top half finish then get a proper pre-season in and make a promotion push next season. Adams then had his transfer window clear out, brought in some seemingly decent players and then the season collapsed. Did that cull of 6 players alienate the rest of the team? Has he lost the dressing room? Adams is an experienced manager of proven ability, so why has the team been so listless since January?

He will still have relegation on his cv s he will have played a big part in us going down doesn't matter that hes not in charge when we actually are relegated still will be on his cv
