Tranmere Rovers v Shrewsbury Town Match Discussion

By Deadly Submarine
April 11 2014

If you can't make Tranmere's vital game at home to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon, why not join in the banter right here with other Rovers fans who are unable to attend...

Following football even at League One level is pretty expensive these days and no matter how much you love the Rovers, it will sometimes be difficult to make the games in person whether it be the lengthy away trips, or for exiles living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, the home games too. As a result, for those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, we at Total Tranmere will be providing this match discussion thread for you to discuss developments with the game.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Day)

Tranmere of course, host Shrewsbury Town a vital game on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on? You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been to watch the game live. What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Despite all the shennanigins in and around our Club, think the Lads showed great spirit last week, and will push on from there 4 - 0

It will be a very nervy 90+ minutes especially every time Shrewsbury attack. Very difficult to predict a score.

As I am travelling up for what will be my last home game of the season, I'm sure it will be a dire 0-0!!!!

After the hard work in getting a result last week. We must get three points again today, otherwise, I can't see, where we can get enough points. We have to, have a go at them. straight from the off, into their faces and dominate. start on the front front and get them under pressure.
Our home has caused the problem in getting results, can we win two games back to back?

The future starts now!!

SWA

2-0.

3-1 to the Super Whites. We need to attack and show who is boss when at home. I also agree that we need to make use of the bit of positivity about the place. Get behind the team lads.

Not sure we really deserved that, but I for one am not going to complain. Good character to come back strong after sitting back far too much for the 15 minutes before they scored. I thought that they would have the momentum then and be more likely to go on to win it - so well done lads.

On the whole i think we deserved it, they were bound to come out fighting 2nd half as they are in the drop zone. We sat a bit too deep, but still managed to prevent any goal scoring opportunites (other than the goal of course) . JBrown looked a different player today, so well done to him. Still think Cole deserves a chance in place of Cassidy. And how Pennington missed that header ?! . Seemed to be a good feeling around the stands today though, feels a bit more like the old times again. Onwards and upwards! SWA

Good result and Power and Akpro contributing for the second game running, so it seems like some more players are finding their footballing voices.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

Have made a prediction on the "two in a row essential" Thread that we could win the next 3 games starting today. That's one down and two to go. Crawley and Gillingham are winnable Imo. The atmosphere there today was tremendous, think everyone's starting to believe including me that we can stay up. Lets get behind the lads now and all be positive.

Well done everybody-3 massive points. Whether we fully deserved them is irrelevant. The end result was all that mattered.

When Brown was brought on for Koumas, my initial reaction was why has he not brought Rowe on. I actually said to the person next to me ''what the hell's he brought him on for.'' What do I know!!!eye rolling smileysmiling smiley

Apart from his goal,he looked much better than the other times I've seen him.

Power was clearly our best player today but I thought the battle between Ridehalgh and their little winger Taylor[number 11] was fascinating/tremendous particularly in the first half. The latter was a real pain in the butt to our defence but Liam coped really well with him. If Taylor is out of contract, we stay up and they go down, he's certainly a player I'd look at signing at the end of the season.

It was great to see Goody up as high as the rest of our bench celebrating our winner only minutes after he'd gone off injured. Hope he's not too badly hurt-Arthurworrey did well when he came on as sub.

Shrewsbury got great back up from their fans who sang much louder and longer than ours throughout.

Whoever decided to play ''You'll Never Walk Alone'' just before the minutes silence made an excellent decision-totally right in the circumstances and very moving.

Finally, very best wishes for a speedy recovery to Peter Johnson who apparently had a bad fall yesterday and whose face looked a bit of a mess as a result.

Good fight and character to get the 3 points but will need to play better in the next few games....

Concerning the amount of space we gave them, for me playing 442 with 2 players injured in the middle was always going to be a big ask!

Thought there should have been a change to tighten up before they got their goal but credit to J Mc for bringing brown on later on which won us the game.

Still don't believe cassidy should be starting, he works hard can't know him for effort but for me Lowe and Akpro with Brown would be the way to go, maybe even as 3 with power/jenno and koumas to tighten up against the better sides.

Bench looked a little threadbare too in terms of game changers....can't help but feel having robbo on there even for the last 10 minutes if you needed a goal would be useful...

Good performances from Max, Akpro, Ash, goodi and Ridehalgh.

A vital win to point a little bit of distance between ourselves and the bottom 4.

We started quite brightly and were denied what looked a blatant penalty for handball but deservedly took the lead and were the better team in the first half. The 2nd half they got on top we couldn't keep the ball in their half and when they scored a draw seemed likely but a good winning goal from Brown gave us the win.

Ridehalgh Power & Taylor were the best players for me & Brown did well when he came on.

I think we saw a future captains performance from Max on Saturday. Plenty of fight, passion and determination on show from him especially the last 15 mins.
