After an unlucky 2-1 away defeat at Wycombe on Saturday afternoon, Rovers Manager Les Parry was rightly left to rue his side's poor defence yet again which gifted the home side the two goals it took to win the game.....

Tranmere Manager Les Parry was left to rue yet more poor defending which cost his side a deserved draw at the very least away at Wycombe on Saturday afternoon.  Whilst Rovers hit the woodwork three times, had two Ian Goodison headers cleared off the line and had a late equaliser disallowed, the continually awful back four continued to leak goals.

Speaking to Tranmere Player, Les Parry said.....

"You can't give two goals away.  They'll think they defended a lead well and you can't argue with that.  Both goals were gifts and we never performed in the first half. We started decently and then we didn't perform in the first half. It's an uphill battle then."

"We've scored in the first five minutes of the last three away games and we've lost all three 2-1.  We can't gift goals and then we can't miss the chances we've missed."

Parry and Summerfield

"It's a 90 minute game. I keep kidding myself that we're doing alright in the second half. But they dropped off because they were desperate for a win and it gives it a false impression I think."

Les stated that were not in a relegation battle yet Hello Les 1 win in 16 is just the formula that spelling relegation and also he quotes that as for our points total we are ahead of the target he envisaged that we would be at this point.
I know we have not sunk yet but the boats shipping in water
fast(Sm109)and the only way we are going to stop the rot is to start putting the ball in the back of the net starting with a win on Saturday lose that game and the ship`s bow end would be starting to go under.

The team that concedes a goal regularly says that it was a gift. The opposition regularly think differently. McLeish at Villa claimed that the Newcastle second goal was a gift yesterday-it looked pretty good to me.
