After another busy seven days for Les Parry's team, which saw a first team fixture, a reserve team match and plenty of of news elsewhere, Total Tranmere brings you this article as we remind you what's been going on at Prenton Park

Another interesting week has passed week for Tranmere Rovers, with plenty of exciting, interesting and important news having come from Prenton Park over the past seven days.

The week started with the re-arrangement of Rovers' postponed first team fixture at Brentford.  The match was originally due to take place eight days ago on February 27th, but heavy rain in London led to the postponement of the match.

Tranmere Rovers and Brentford this week announced that the game will now take place at Griffin Park on Tuesday April 20th with a 7.45 kick off.

On Tuesday, Rovers extended the loan spell of striker Marvin Sordell from Watford by a further month.  The 19-year old joined Tranmere in early February and has impressed since, scoring once in six games following yesterday's match.

Wednesday saw Tranmere's reserves travel to Bamber Bridge to take on Preston North End reserves, with Rovers including Bas Savage, Alan Mahon, Chris Shuker, Charlie Barnett, Aaron Cresswell and Chris McCready in their starting line up.

However, they suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to the Lilywhites, with the only goal coming five minutes into the match when Dominic Collins headed home from Sam Hart's corner.

The saddest news of the day though was undoubtably the passing of Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander, who died aged 53.

Alexander, one of just two current black managers in the football league, enjoyed a strong playing career before a successful career as a manager, which saw him guide Lincoln City to the play-offs four seasons running.

He was a well loved character in the game and he will be sorely missed by many.

Thursday saw Tranmere Rovers' supporters club hold their special evening "Les Aid", at Aldo's.  The evening was geared towards earning £10,000 in order to fund a new loan signing for Rovers manager Les Parry, and it went down a huge success.

With the Tranmere boss turning up to speak at the evening, the supporters trust reached their target on Friday, thanks to many donations and to all those who have bought any kind of item as part of the Les Aid fund.

Hopefully the Tranmere boss will now be able to bring in a player that will steer his club comfortably away from the drop zone before the end of the season!

The biggest and no doubt best news of the week though at Prenton Park was Tranmere's 2-1 win over Southampton on Saturday in Coca Cola League One.

It was a massive three points picked up for Rovers, as they moved four points clear of the drop zone ahead of Tuesday's visit of Leeds United, with many results in the division going their way too, as Exeter, Oldham, Southend, Stockport and Wycombe all failed to pick up wins.

Broomes Marlon

Tranmere earned the win courtesy of goals from Marlon Broomes, his first for the club and first in five and a half years, and Ian Thomas-Moore, who's late penalty secured Rovers the win and continued his run of Tranmere not having lost when he has scored this season.

The game also saw the return of Bas Savage from a long injury lay off, with the striker making his first appearance since April 26th 2009 following two achillies injuries.

He came on as a second half substitute in the 67th minute and had a very positive effect on the game, with the fans and players roused by his return.
