Saturday 6th March - Coca Cola League One

  Tranmere v Southampton

Kick-Off 3.00pm at Prenton Park

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.

Stadium Tranmere (Day)

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Tranmere of course are at home to in-form Southampton in Coca-Cola League One on Saturday afternoon in what is another vital game for Rovers in League One, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Hopefully get a point from this game but they're in such a great vein of form, especially in front of goal, so anything will be tough to get. Hopefully our defence will battle hard and we'll score any chances that come our way

Terrific and battling win today and picking up a hugely valuable three points, with results elsewhere largely going in our favour.

Thought Edds and Welsh in midfield were ecelelent. Hard working and tough tackling, with some great passes into our forwards as well.

Defence handled their brilliant front line expertly, everybody back there had a terrific game, and our forwards worked tirelessly through-out.

Biggest difference was bringing Bas on though. As soon as he came on, the whole team lifted. The crowd lifted and the players started hunting and attacking in numbers. He may have not got the ball much, but the confidence it gave everybody just by him coming on I think won us the game alone.

Fully agree Matt!

Massive 3 points and although Bas isn't gonna make as big a difference as some expect his presence today made a diffference. As soon as he came on he outstrengthed Jaidi and dribbled it past him and the ball across goal was superb!

I thought Mahon also had a big impact on the game when he came on and his block arguably saved the three points so hopefully we will see more of him soon.

I was impressed with Sordell, Curran and Moore today upfront and Welsh and McLaren both did OK in the centre as well.

A huge win ahead of what I thought was the more winnable game of the two on Tuesday!!

Welsh was my man of the match. Threw himself about and won so many tackles. Great display

A fantasic result would say the best result of the season so far.
We wobbled a bit after they scored but it was a throughly deserved win, if we can play and battle like that for the rest of the season we will stay up.

MOM a tough one probably just go for welsh ahead of goodison & edds.

We have a bit of breathing space now, if we can something on tuesday things will look a lot better

Fantastic performance today much deserved as well as we outmuscled them for much of the game.

I thought two things turned the game in our favour, the introduction of Bas and Mahon. Bas just gave us the lift we needed at a time when the game could have easily have been lost. Mahon also lifted the team as we had someone on the pitch who could not only pick out a good pass but also get his foot in to. I would like to see him in for McLaren because although McLaren has not been that bad, Mahon is a much better player than him. As also noted on these boards a few times, McLarens none presence in the team makes Welsh play better too.

After reading Pardews comments, I am dissapointed because I actually thought the ref had a good game and the penalty was a stonewall. I was dissapointed to see Southampton call for every decision that went against them and as for that penalty call near the end, it was a dive and he was rightly booked.

If we get beat on Tuesday, i won't be too disheartened because 3 points from the two games is more than I bargained for!!

Two points from these two games would of been a good return, to already have got 3 means we can relax a little bit (the fans that is, not the team) as we have a bit of a safety gap over the relegation zone as we play a team who, I don't exactly expect to beat. Having said that the form they're in, it wouldn't surprise me if we took something from them.

One big difference for me today was the feeling both after they scored their first and after we scored our second. At no point did it ever, to me, feel like they were going to score a second. I always had confidence in us holding out for the win, something we certainly didn't have under Barnes and ever lacked under Moore sometimes. It's a great result and just shows how resiliant Les has made us.

I too thought the ref had a good game and wasnt throwing cards about left right and centre that another ref would have. There number 17 tho was really wicking me off and would have certainly got a punch with his antics. I thought it was a good game but was gutted that I missed the pen due to being downstairs in the main stand at the time (typical).

Was surprised by the win tho, but saying that I had a fiver on us losing 5-0 at 100-1, so probably that had some doing too. Every time i bet on Tranmere to win, we lose. Everytime I bet on us to lose we win.......Come tomorrow I'll have £5 on a leeds win, if this keeps up we'll be save for sure LOL.
