By Deadly Submarine July 1 2009 Following the recent release of the fixtures for the 2009/10 League One season, Rovers have today confirmed that two home matches have been moved to a Friday night on the advice of Merseyside Police.
On a day when it was transfer news that was expected by most Rovers Fans, Tranmere have so far come up with two re-arranged Friday night home games on the advice of Merseyside Police.
The two games moved to Friday night are...
Friday 15th January Vs Yeovil Town - Kick-Off 7.45pm (was Saturday 16th)
Friday 19th March Vs Hartlepool - Kick-Off 7.45pm (was Saturday 20th)
Rovers will Face both Yeovil and Hartlepool at Home on a Friday Night
Speaking to the Official Tranmere Rovers Website, Chief Executive Mick Horton said....
"Unusually there were very few clashes with major Liverpool and Everton matches in the fixture list so Merseyside Police only advised us to move two games"
"Also the majority of teams in the division are southern based so few clubs are prepared to voluntarily move to a Friday because of the long distance involved, making it difficult for their fans to travel."
Manager John Barnes added...
"Tranmere have a good tradition of Friday night football and I look forward to both of these matches"
Details of any further fixture changes will be brought to you here on Total Tranmere as we get them so stay tuned!!
