NUMBER 5 - DAVID KAY (VANCOUVER, CANADA)
What is your Name and where do you Live?David Kay and I live in Vancouver .BC, Canada.
How old are you and for how long have you supported Rovers?
61 years old and for over 50 years.
Who or what made you support the Superwhites? My father and his friend used to take me as a boy, when Iived on the Woodchurch estate. Also my mother was in the ATS with George Payne's wife.
What was your first ever Rovers Game?I can't remember who we played but we were In the 3rd Division North. Could have been against Chester but I don't really know. Probably either Albert Harris or George Payne was in goal.
As an exiled fan, how many Rovers games do you manage to get to each season on average?
Probably about 0.10 games per season!
Who is your all-time favourite Rovers Player?
Another tough one. George Payne, Barry Dyson or George Yardley.
Who is the worst Rovers Player you've seen?
Bernard Evans.
What was your favourite ever Rovers Game?
Probably the 0-0 draw with Chelsea back in the early 60's in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup on a snow packed field. The game wasn't up to much but the crowd and the drama was great. Chelsea had Bobby Tambling and Terry Venables.
Select your All-Time Best Rovers XI:Having been away for so long this impossible for me but it should include Yardley, Coppell and Roy McFarland; also players that I didn't see like Harvey, Ian Muir.
What is your Favourite Away Ground?
Upton Park - West Ham United.
Have you ever been to Wembley with Rovers and if so which year and which match? No but I did go to watch Aston Villa when I lived in Birmingham for a few years.
What is your all-time Awful Rovers XI?
Again a difficult one but it would include Bernard Evans.
If you were in charge at Prenton Park, what changes would you make?Try to retain good young players but I know that is easier said than done because of the Bosman Ruling.
After missing out this season, where do you think Rovers will finish next season? In the playoffs - hope springs eternal.
Tell us something interesting or unusual about your support for Rovers over the years? When I first came to Canada in 74, my Mum and Dad mailed the Birkenhead News, almost weekly so that I could keep informed about the Rovers. A few years ago, I introduced myself to Barry Mitchell, who was the landlord of the Coach and Horses in Greasby because I saw him playing for Tranmere and the Vancouver Whitecaps.
At Park High, a rugby playing school, I drew the Tranmere Logo on my Army and Navy school canvas school bag, being one of the few Rovers fans attending the school, although I did see one of my teachers at one game.
Have you ever worked for/been involved with the Club aside from being a Fan?
Unfortunately No.
Total Tranmere would like to thank David for his interview!
