After nine days of speculation, the initial rumour of John Barnes becoming Tranmere's new Manager today became reality as the former Liverpool and England midfielder told Sky Sports News that he will be confirmed as Rovers new Manager tomorrow.
The news of Ronnie Moore's dismissal almost ten days ago had barely spread around fully amongst the fans when news emerged from reliable sources close to Total Tranmere that Barnes would be named as the new Rovers Boss, sparking rumours of a possible takeover at the Club as well.
So far there is no news on the takeover but the appointment of Barnes is now all but confirmed as Sky Sports News run the story this afternoon claiming that Barnes has confirmed to them his appointment.
After a playing career spanning 17 years at just four different Clubs - Watford, Liverpool, Newcastle and Charlton Athletic as well as 79 England Caps, Barnes moved into management at Celtic and although his spell there was a short one his record read P29 W19 D2 L8.

Since then he has been Coach of the National Team of Jamaica (the Country of his birth) until his contract was not renewed there last week in order for him to take up the job at Prenton Park.
Barnes will therefore team up with one of his Jamaican players Ian Goodison who recently signed a new two-year deal to stay at the Club.
Although not yet confirmed, it is beleived that Jason McAteer will be Barnes's Assistant Manager after just three years away from the Club after his playing careers ended at Tranmere.
We will bring you all the news this week including the Carling Cup draw on Tuesday and the release of the Football League Fixtures on Wednesday morning.
