Interest Soars

Kenwyne Jones
By The Black Cats
January 7 2010
January always brings about rumours and this year has not disappointed with a number of Bruce's targets being reported in the press as well as a lot of interest in current Sunderland players from clubs far and wide.

It has been reported that Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has tabled a £9million bid for striker Kenwyne Jones, which is laughable, as this time last year Sunderland turned down £16million for theTrinidad and Tobago international.

McLeish would also have to see off interest from Stoke City boss Tony Pulis and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp.

Personally, unless we sign Drogba, there's no one better than Jones at his game.

Interest has also been expressed in club captain Lorik Cana - Lyon want to take the midfielder back to France - another move I can't see happening.

Bruce is also rumoured to want to bring Maynor Figuroea and Charles N'Zogbia to the Stadium of Light from his old side Wigan Athletic.

Another player the Black Cats have been linked with is Hamburg defender Guy Demel, who started his career with Arsenal before moving into the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund
