Seven days into the transfer window the rumours are starting to heat up. A number of sources are linking FC Shalke frontman Kevin Kuranyi with a move to Wearside

The Daily Mirror says Sunderland are on the verge of completing a £3.5m move for Schalke 04 striker Kevin Kuranyi.

The 27-year-old has passed the 100-goal mark in German football and has been a regular in the national side.

The Daily Mail have also published a similar article, saying  Steve Bruce is targeting a loan move for the 6'3" target man, who is out of contract in the summer.

It is believed that this could be a replacement for striker Kenwyne Jones who always attracts interest during these windows.
