Stevenage Borough 0-1 Aldershot Town

A poor decision by the referee proved to decide a tight game between Stevenage Borough and Aldershot Town. The Shots were awarded a penalty six minutes into the second half, which Roscoe D'Sane converted to win it for them. The first half was all Boro, except for about two Aldershot chances. After only two minutes Boro had their first corner and a ball played short to George Boyd, was ruined by the referee's whistle, like just about everything else in the game. To be honest, he's one of the worst referees I've seen in the Conference! Brian Quailey also had two good chances in the first 15 minutes, heading just wide, and having been one-on-one with the goalkeeper, he hit his shot straight at him. Anthony Elding was booked for having a go at the linesman, and there was a certain Steve Watson, who was also booked, being subject to insulting chances by the Boro crowd. Not surprising really. Rob Burch made his first save just after 30 minutes, as Jon Challinor was set through from a good ball, yes good ball by Steve Watson. Challinor's shot was good, but so was the save.

Half-time: Stevenage Borough 0-0 Aldershot Town

Aldershot came out for the second half, and started it much better than they were in the first half. Six minutes in, a looping cross, which was unthreatening, hit Matt Hocking, which seemed the chest, but the referee had over ideas, and gave a very controversial penalty. Roscoe D'SANE comfortably struck it into Burch's bottom right-hand corner, with the keeper going the opposite way. The last-half hour of the game was very disappointing for the Boro fans. Many Boro players went for their tackles, but Aldershot always looked the more threatening, Burch getting down well to save an attempt by Aaron McLean about 10 minutes from time, and Challinor also wasn't far away. Too many Stevenage balls were very poor and were ending up no-where. Nurse, Hanlon and Flack all came on, replacing Quailey, Brady and Hocking, but this made no difference at all.
