STRANRAER

0-0

BERWICK RANGERS

(0-0)

Berwick started off the better team with Alex Burke having the first attempt on goal with a 20 yard volley which was saved by Willie McCulloch who hadn't featured in the first team since his dreadful performance against Cowdenbeath at the start of the season.

Allan Jenkins then had a decent chance for the second division strugglers. He powered his way through the Berwick defence then unleashed a left foot shot which blazed over the bar. Then another attack came with Jenkins again causing trouble. Gordon Forrest's bad defensive header fell to Jenkins who let fly from 25 yards only to see Ross Godfrey save his shot easily.

Stranraer were by far the better side in the second half and dominated for long spells. An Allan Jenkins cross found Fraser Wright and his header was somehow touched onto the post by Ross Godfrey.

Stranraer had a similar chance again shortly after. This time an Ian Harty cross found the unmarked Michael Moore and his effort was clawed away by Godfrey once again. The Blues nearly got their winner late on. Derek Wingate started the move with a ball which was passed with great authority through to Ian Harty who's 20 yard drive hit the bottom of the post after a slight deflection.

STRANRAER M.O.M. - Allan Jenkins - Great effort the whole match but the real performer on the day was the Berwick goalie Ross Godfrey who denied Stranraer on several occasions.

OVERALL SUMMARY- Two dropped points against a poor Berwick side and with Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton winning it's going to be a struggle to make us safe from relegation. Billy McLaren said,"I don't think our keeper, apart from the first two minutes, had anything to do other than a punch in the second half."
