A heavy down pour of rain 24 hours prior to the game made the pitch slow and very slippery.
Hamilton started the game well and just after 2 minutes they were infront. A cross came in and the ball was headed upwards. The defence stood static and Stuart Callaghan punished them with a thundering volley high into the net past the helpless Hillcoat.
Stranraer responded and had some half chances. A Lee Sharp corner was floated over to the back post and Kevin Gaughan rose unchallenged and his header hit the post and was eventually cleared.
Eventually the equaliser came. A Stevie Aitken left foot cross and ex Hamilton frontman rose highest and his rising header was out of reach of the keeper and it fell into the bottom corner of the net.
Stranraer had some of the better chances in the second half. A Ian Harty run and low cross found Allan Jenkins running in unchallenged but his volley was just wide.
Hamilton sub Hahdi Ellfalah nearly won the game. As Aitken slipped as he was going to challenge him the sub could only shoot against the foot of the post with Hillcoat only to beat.
From the following corner the defence failed to clear and again was static and Allan Russell hooked the ball home.
OVERALL SUMMARY- Agood game to watch which the referee stop started a lot. The game was played at a good tempo and on that basis I thought Stranraer deserved a point at least.
STRANRAER MOM- Allan Jenkins, his work rate was very good and he fought for every ball. Michael Moore caused their defence a lot of problems and took his goal well.
