League leaders Stranraer were held to a draw by second place Raith Rovers at Stair Park. The visitors were two-up after only 17 minutes, but strikes by Allan Jenkins and Ian Harty assured the Blues would stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Stranraer remain at the top of the Second Division table despite a close call against second place Raith Rovers. The match really was a game of two halves; the first with plenty of goals and attacking moves, while in the second neither team could score the winner.

In the opening minutes of the match it was evident the game would not be a disappointment. In the 4th minute Calderon set up Paul Hampshire, but the striker's shot went wide.

Three minutes later it was Stranraer who had a good scoring chance. This time from a Kevin Finlayson effort from the edge of the box, but the ball went narrowly wide.

Raith took the lead in 8th minute when an unmarked Brian Carigan met a deep Ryan Blackadder cross, to head the ball past Hillcoat.

In the 14th minute Steve Aitken played a well timed cross to Alex Lurinsky, but his shot was weak, and easily saved by Ogeda in the Rovers' goal.

Stranraer found themselves down two goals in the 17th minute when a one-two between Paquito and Nanou, near the half-way line, resulted in Paquito rushing into the Blues' box an slotting the ball past Hillcoat.

Ian Harty was unlucky in the 21st and 28th minutes when he had two attempts at goal. The first one was a chip shot from outside the box (which went over the bar) and the second was a volley which Ogeda forced around the upright.

Harty continued to harry the the visitor's defence, and in the 31st minute it paid off when his run down the side of the field resulted in a cross which Allan Jenkins headed home from eight yards out.

Stranraer pushed for the equaliser and Kevin Finlayson almost scored it when he broke free in the 37th minute, only to fire his shot straight into the arms of Ogeda.

A minute later Ian Harty drew the score level when a scored by rounding the 'keeper after a deep throw from the left was knocked on by Paul Kerr to the hitman.

The second half was characterised by a series of missed opportunities and bad luck by both sides. Six minutes after the restart a corner by Lee Sharp was met by Kerr, but his header crashed off the top of the crossbar.

Raith's manger Antonio Calderon breathed a sigh of relief in the 55th minute when he carelessly gave the ball away to Ian Harty, but the Stranraer forward's shot was stopped by a diving save by Raul Ogeda.

Raith's last chance in the match fell to Hampshire in the 80th minute when a cross into the box we met by the striker. Unfortunately, he couldn't direct his header goalwards.

Stranraer's last chance of the game came with only two minutes of the match remaining. Ian Harty played a lovely ball to Sandy Hodge waiting in the box, but the wing-forward fired the ball high over the crossbar.

Man of the Match: Ian Harty. Yet again the Stranraer forward caused countless problems for the opposition's defence.
