Another win
By S. Archibald
September 28 2002
A first-half strike by Lee Sharp and a second-half penalty by Ian Harty extended the Blues league winning streak to five matches. To compound Forfar's missery, former Stranraer player Darren Henderson was sent off in the last minute of the match.

(1-0)

Stranraer slipped into third place in the league with their fifth win in a row in front of a disappointingly small crowd of only 285 at Stair Park.

The Blues had the better part of play in the first half, but the only highlight of the half was the goal scored by Lee Sharp two minutes before the half.

Sharp - opened scoring Harty - 7th goal this season

In the 43rd minute Sharp broke free and from 25 yards out fired a shot towards the Forfar goal. The ball slipped beneath the body of Michael Brown and over the line.

The second half was little better than the first, with neither side pushing hard. Lee Sharp missed two excellent chances at adding to is tally, but on both occasions the midfielder sliced the ball wide of the goal.

In the 77th minute it was Sharp who won a penalty when he broke into the Forfar Athletic box and was felled by Scott McCulloch. Mr. Cassidy did not hesitate to point to the spot.

Ian Harty took the subsequent penalty and sent the ball to the right of Brown. This was Harty's 7th goal of the season.

In the dying minutes Darren Henderson bought a little bit of excitement to the match when he was booked for a foul and seconds later was sent off for dissent.

OVERALL SUMMARY- By all accounts this was a poor display compared to recent wins by the Blues. However, it is the result that counts and the three points gained now mean the Blues are in third place, only two points behind leaders Raith Rovers.

STRANRAER MOM- Lee Sharp, despite missing two gilt-edged chances in the second half, the midfielder scored the opening goal and won the penalty for Stranraer's second..
