Cambridge United have released a statement to the Official Website following the recent loss by the football league in the court case against Carlton & Granada.

The club have sensibly admitted although they are disapointed with the outcome of the verdict, that they were prepared for it and are going to do everything they can to not let it affect them. Although their full support goes to the football league in taking steps to revoke this decision, the club will now be more concerned with matters at the club rather than pushing out to help the football league.

The club budgeted for the coming season with the presumption they wouldn't have the ITV Digital money and it's a good thing they did.

Now ITV Digital have got away with completely screwing the Football League and walking away from a legally binding contract, what is to stop Sky Sports doing so? And the next company after that?

This decision only highlights the growing gap between the teams at the top and the lower league teams, and the gap doesn't seem to be getting any smaller...
