There aren't many things you can publish now on an unofficial website without the threat of court action, has it gone too far? We think so.
This website hasn't been formed for a great deal of time but since it's creation we've learnt about the extensive and ridiculous copyright laws. We for one have had enough...
First of all there is pictures and photos. All pictures/photos of a clubs players, or from anywhere within a clubs stadium are the copyright of the respective club. This has denied our visitors pictures to brighten up each of our articles and news reports. It also restricts us from providing you with a photo gallery. The only way now to have copyright of pictures is to pay an extensive amount, a minimum of a four figure sum. These ludicrous sums are money are not what websites like this can afford.
Secondly there is League Tables. You may see them in all the newspapers and on bigger websites, but not on smaller websites. Again, the figure for buying copyright to League Tables is just as expensive as it is for photos. As I said before, there is no way websites like this can afford that amount of money.
Thirdly and most ridiculously of all, a clubs FIXTURES are copyrighted. You wont see a clubs fixtures anywhere except a clubs official site. Why? Once again huge amounts of money are involved in having the copyright to them. Websites like this aren't allowed in any shape or form to list fixtures. It's ridiculous.
The League has gone crazy with copyright, they are out to make money in any way they can. This is the only explanation I can think of. Why else would they demand such stupid amounts of money to list who we are playing over the next few months? What next? Could they copyright our opinions of players and not let us slag a player off if he plays badly? Sounds far-fetched but they've gone this far so who knows how far the League could take it. Court action is now the threat for anyone who dares try to publish anything within their copyright.
