James Brown - goal
James Brown's first-half goal was enough to earn another three points from a game which wasn't a classic. But the result, for Pools, was a cracker.
They always do well at Brunton Park, and this season they made the trip to Cumbria at just the right time as Carlisle are going through a playing crisis.
Pools boss Danny Wilson was delighted with the way his defenders played, and he had every right to be. Sam Collins and Michael Nelson (right) are at last forming the partnership everybody knew they were capable of, playing well as individuals and as a pair in the middle of the back four.
Against Carlisle they didn't have to be at their best, but they were certainly good enough to cope with Carlisle and close the game down once Brown had scored his seventh goal of the season.
When Carlisle got a rare chance, Arran Lee-Barrett made one stunning save.
Pools are away to another struggling team on Saturday, Leyton Orient, and another good result will give them another boost as well as a possible further lift up the table.
The question is - will it shut the moaners up? They have gone relatively quiet since the run started, and with win following win and, now, two clean sheets, they are beginning to run out of things to complain about.
Just a couple of weeks ago they wanted Wilson sacked, a new goalkeeper and a new back four. While nobody can claim the situation is perfect now, it's certainly a lot better and those who actually admitted wanting Pools to LOSE HEAVILY at Walsall, where the current winning run started, so Wilson would be sacked will surely have changed his mind.
Won't he?
