After losing by one goal at Leeds in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, Pools suffered two narrow defeats at the hands of teams who believe they should be playing at a higher level in the space of a few days.
But with a bit of luck, both results might have been different, and that would have put a spoke in the wheels of the doom-mongers who crop up so regularly on one or two message boards.
Reports of Pools being crap are grossly exaggerated and the end is most definitely not at hand.
All right, so Danny Wilson and his team are not going to win the League One title, and on current form a place in the play-offs is also unlikely.
But they are not as bad as some of the negative comments being made about the team suggest.
Unlike Leicester and Leeds, Pools have no cash to spare, which not only means they can't afford to splash out big-time in the transfer market, they also can't afford to pay big wages.
They have a handful of players the likes of Leeds and Leicester would possibly envy - James Brown, Joel Porter, Gary Liddle, Richie Jones, Sam Collins would all fit into bigger squads than the one Wilson has availble at the moment.
And as a team they play some good, attacking football whioch has drawn compliments from several opposing managers already this season.
Matt Oakley's third-minute goal set Leicester on the way to victory in front of more than 18,000 fans, but Pools did well to recover from that early blow, defended well for the rest of the game and attacked enough to create one or two chances which mnight have changed the result.
It didn't quite happen, but the game was a lot closer than many will be at Leicester this season.
