Whatever the reason, they are almost always a handful at the New Den (might be a clue to the name there), and Pools boss Danny Wilson knows his players will haver to be at their best to get a result.
There are a couple of injuury doubts for the game, Richie Jones (left) and Andy Monkhouse both sitting out the midweek JPT defeat at home to impressive Leicester City.
Millwall are not the power they used to be, but it won't be easy and Pools can't always rely on the opposition making daft defensive mistakes like they did at Peterboriugh last weekend.
With their six points from two wins, Pools are in seventh place in League One, with Millwall a point behind after a win and two draws.
The strength of the Pools squad this season is clearly to play flowing, attacking football and getting the ball to James Brown and Joel Porter so they can use their pace and skill to run at the opposition defence.
It was this that helped them win so well against Colchester and scunthope in the first week of the season and to beat Premiership West Brom in the Carling Cup.
They met their match in Leicester, but hopefully that won't persuade Danny Wilson to change his tactics. He has a number of players in his squad who play their part in a team which can play some very good attacking football, and surely with that sort of advantage, the best form of defence in away games is to attack and shake the home team up if they are expecting a team to arrive playing defensive football.
