Pools look for away boost at Posh

Posh as owt
By Clarence Rode August 29 2008
Hartlepool attempt to get their away season up and running this weekend at Peterborough, where the home team and the fans all wear kit like the one modelled here. They are called Posh because David Beckham wants to play with them, and because everybody there is, well ... Posh as owt.

They've spent loads of dash in the last copuple of years, earning promotion from league two, and were one of the pre-season favourites to do well this season under the guidance of Darren Ferguson, who is the son of former Supremes singer Sheila Ferguson. Or is he the son of somebody else famous called Ferguson?
Hartlepool will again be without injured pair Willie Boland, who is likely to be out for a few weeks, and Ben Clark, but there will be a return for regulars Northern Echo and Hartlepool Mail, who missed out on the home games againt Stockport and West Brom.
They are back because while Pools chairman Ken Hodcroft can ban them from the Vic after appearing to throw his toys out of his pram, he can't have them banned from other grounds ... yet.
The row between the two newspapers and the club has even made national news this week, and it boils down now to a matter of principle. Because of this, there's always a chance KH could try to get other clubs to back him.
After their brill win over West Brom on Tuesday, Pools will probably be unchanged as they try to earn their first away points of the season. They were a bit unlucky in their previous away game at Tranmere, losing 1-0, but with two away League games on the trot now, it's time to start picking up points on their travels.
Hopefully, Tuesday's extra-time win won't have taken too much out of them and they can start to convert their attacking football into goals and more points.
