Stockport County
Whatever the reason for their daft nickname, Stockport won promotion through the League Two play-offs last May, and are hoping to consolidate in League One this season.
Pools, meanwhile, did their consolidating last season – or at least that’s what we all like to think it was – and now they are hoping to have a better season, built on the goals power they have shown in their previous two matches this season.
With James Brown scoring three out of the seven Pools scored against Colchester and Scunthorpe, the promise was there for a good season up front. But failing to score at Tranmere was a bit of a let-down and Pools will be determined to put it right on Saturday.
Losing by a single goal at Tranmere in only the second League game of the season is not the end of the world, but Danny Wilson won’t want it to become a habit after his team’s rubbish away form last season.
Let’s hope they can continue to get it right at the Vic, then they might just give West Brom a game in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
· - You’ve probably spotted our deliberate mistake over the reason for Stockport’s nickname. They are, of course, called the Hatters because they used do the Mexican Hat Dance when they scored.
