Plenty of names for the Pools rumour mill
By Clarence Rode June 6 2008
Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson said he wanted to sign new players this summer and if he added all those who have been linked with the club in the five weeks since the season ended to the Viuctoria Park squad,, he'd be able to field two teams in League One next season. But he'll probably finish up with four or five newcomers.

In no particular order the players linked with possible movs to the club since early May have included:

Michael Bridges - ex-Sunderland, Newcastle and Leeds striker, surplus to requirements at promoted Hully City.
Graeme Lee - former Pools defender released by another promoted team, Doncaster Rovers, after an injury-hit season.
Robert Snodgrass - striker with Scottish side Livingstone who posseses the sort of surname that should appear in a Sherlock Holmes story rather than a football team.
Clark Keltie - midfield player released by D********n, of League two.
Alan O'Brien - winger with Hibs.
Grant Holt - Nottingham Forest striker.
Ryan Stevenson - goalscoring midfield player with Ayr United who is believed to have trained with Pools at the end of the season.

The problem with most of them is that other clubs are chasing them as well, so if Pools are after them, they will spend the next couple of weeks weighing up their options before making a decision in late June/early July, when contracts expire.
So even though Alan Power has already agreed to sign after being freed by Forest, don't expect too many other new names just yet. as usual in football, it's going to be a waiting game before a rush of signings in the middle of the close-season, jut in time for training to start.

By the way, no prizes for guessing the identity of the player with the question mark over his head at the top - it's Michael Nelson.
