Joel Porter
Phoenix say Porter has told them he want to play for them, and they are continuing in their efforts to sign him.
Their chief executive Tony Pignata said: "We're trying to see whether there can be any options.
"He wants to come, he's agreed to terms and we're happy to move forward. He wants to move and accept an offer on his house, so it's a messy one."
it was thought that Porter had playd his last gam,e for Pools when the season ended at the bginning of May, but the club's decision to exercise its option on his contract put a stop of the NZ club's hopes.
Neither Porter nor Pools are saying anything, but Pools chairman ken Hodcroft is renowned for expecting the club's players to honour their contracts so he will be expecting Porter to do just that.
An injury-free Porter would be an asset for Pools next season, but several times in the last year he has been linked with moves back to Australia, and while Wellington in New Zealand in hardly Adelaide in Oz, it's a lot closer than Hartlepool is.
Meanwhile, if you're expecting any news to come out of the club on summer transfer targets, don't hold your breath.
They are unlikely to make any announcement until deals are signed, sealed and delivered, and with football contracts running until the end of June, don't expect news until July.
