Chairman Ken Hodcroft says the club is not afraid to make the necessary changes while manager Danny Wilson says he can't do anything until Hodcroft approves his plans for the club's players.
Our advice is to get on with it, sharpish, whatever the plans are.
The following are the players who have freatured most this season, apart from a handful of waste-of-time loans.
Based purely on what they have (or, in some cases, have not) done this season, this is what we at Poolsonline think:
Jan Budtz - has all the attributes, but too prone to daft mistakes.
Arran Lee-Barrett - has improved since being given a chance, and is probably good enough.
Jamie McCunnie - arrived with a good pedigree a year ago, but has not shown it.
Robbie Elliott - ditto.
Michael Nelson - has not had his best season, but still worth his place in the squad.
Ben Clark - definitely worth his place, either at centre-half or as sweeper in front of back four.
Sam Collins - top signing, probably worth building the defence around.
Godwin Antwi - loan from Liverpool now up. Probably won't stay.
Richie Humphreys - still the top club man, though showing some worrying signs at times.
Willie Boland - has done a great job, but lacks pace and is not positive enough.
Gary Liddle - not the player he was, but in a better team he can be again.
Andy Monkhouse - once a fans' favourite, now a luxury.
Antony Sweeney - 100 per center who might be better at right-back.
James Brown - wasted at times, shopuld really play up front.
Richard Barker - not as popular as he deserves to be with fans, badly missed when injured.
Joel Porter - is he staying or will he leave? Popular with fans, but should score more goals.
David Foley - is he going to make the grade?
Michael Mackay - ditto.
Matty Robson - ditto.
When you remember that a player as good, honest and dedicated as Eifion Williams was released a year ago, you can go through the above list and whittle it down to make room for newcomers without any trouble.
