Injury problems for Pools at Bristol

Antony Sweeney - deal
By Clarence Rode April 3 2008
Injuries are going to be the problem for Danny Wilson as he prepares for Hartlepool’s League One visit to Bristol Rovers on Saturday. It’s a good thing for the Pools boss that there’s nothing at stake apart from late-season pride. But at least there’s some good news this week with Antony Sweeney settling his differences with the club and signing a new contract.

Sweeney was put on the transfer list when he couldn’t agree terms for an extended deal, but it’s all sorted now and he has committed his immediate future to Pools.
He’s part of the squad for the game at the Memorial Stadium, where Pools will find a pitch totally different to their own because Bristol Rugby Club play their games in it.
So it could be a case of getting stuck in an hoping for the best for Danny’s boys.
Defender Sam Collins is still feeling the affects of his bruised ribs, James Brown got an off-the-ball kick against Swansea that’s left him with bad bruising, Gary Liddle is definitely out as he recovers from 19 stitches he needed after colliding with keeper Arran Lee-Barrett against Swansea and top scorer Richard Barker has a hamstring injury.
The game provides Wilson with a chance to run the rule over some of his players as he prepares to get a squad together for next season.
Michael Mackay, David Foley, Willie Boland, Jamie McCunnie, Robbie Elliott – they are just some of the names you could mention while wondering who will be with the club next season.
Games like Saturday’s might help Wilson make up his mind.
